looks like a litte getoff has bent the shift shaft tonight. should I spend 30 bucks or so to replace it, or is this a good time to drop 160 on a TB manual clutch? the TB manual clutch incudes a new shift shaft right?

bear in mind would kinda like a manual clutch and my buddy that crashed it would pony up for the replacement of the part so a manual clutch upgrade would be closer to 130 out of my pocket after I supbtract his contribution.

thoughts?

anyone replace one of this and have insight on difficulty level?

yea i just put one in on my bike, it is so easy it hurts!!! all you do is take a few parts off, then the shift shaft just litterally pulls out, and you push the new one in.

I have the stock honda shift shaft if you want to buy it?

could you elaborate on what it took to replace it? remove right side cover, ge the mallet out? hahaha!!! Why did you replace the stock 50 shaft, and what would you want for it?

:)

as for the manual clutch, what was the install like on that? It might be worth the dough since I'm so used to using a clutch....

well i forgot what parts that you have to take off. but i know it was easy. lol

and i just bought the tool for clutch, i didnt want to jack anything up. i think the tool cost like 6 bucks. i have instructions on how to install a clutch convertion kit, and i think you could use those, then just put the parts back on once you get the shaft in. i'll sell you the stock honda shaft for 10 bucks, plus a couple for shipping if you want it.

The manual clutch is super easy to install... I just did my second one, you basically remove the stock setup and put the new parts on. I would buy a shop manual so you can see how it all goes together.

i have a clymer manual so I'm good there. the manual clutch swap comes with a new shift shaft, right?

edit: jesus, these responses are fast, is everyone online at 12am on a friday? you're lucky these posts are legible I'm drunk as a skunk. thus the bent shift shaft.

Yea, it comes with a new shift shaft.

P.S. It's only 10pm here...

P.S.S. You need to get a clutch perch with the kit too, so dont forget one of those if you order the kit ;)

jeez, 10pm you better get with the beer drinking pronto

sweet, shift shaft included.

i knew about the perch but thanks for the reminder.

still on the fence though 10+shipping for a stocker, or get the manual i want and dont tell the fiance......

Really its a simple instal but you do have to take a few things off.Basically you take off the side cover, putt the clutch pack off, putt the primary gear off, then loosen the star thing and pull the shift shaft out.You have to do the exact same thing if you would install the TB manual clutch.

Dude, you have to take all that stuff off anyways to put in the new stocker. Might as well upgrade to the manual.

thanks for the input, everyone. I'm going to hold off on the manual clutch till I do the 88 upgrade. At least I'll have practice after this!!! ;)
