My buddy finally got around to starting to pull apart the CT motor that was transplanted into my hardtail once upon a time. He stopped when he found some pretty broken looking stuff... including why it had trouble shifting.

So, um.. how bad is this gonna be to fix? Should I bother?

Had the same problem with my CT70H. Long story short, I let my Mother ride the bike and she forgot to clutch before placing in first gear - yikes!

Moth balled the 6 volt motor and went with a 12 volt 117 as part of my resto mod of the bike. Good luck!

Just a matter of getting another right side engine case and put everything back together. Everybody has an extra set of cases for one reason or the other, should be easy to come across.

OK, so I have a set of cases on the way from Jthomas

Anything else I should think about doing before I reassemble it?

For the record, this is 100% a pit only bike. Performance is secondary to it just running so I can putt around when I'm at the track.

hey mikev i talked to you about you buying my motor with broken crank.. sorry man i didnt know you were in livermore i would have told you to come get the cases i just was hesitant on shipping. let me know if you need anything else in the bottom end.. i have the parts motor with the bad crank if you need anything..

i live in pleasanton.. hey i just popped the head off the the piston is seized in the cylinder but the bottom end is good.. no broken crank.. i dont really want to split the cases just for the cases but if your interested in the bottom end ill make you a deal with the head if you want or you still need one.. let me know.. it is from a 1970 ct70. three speed auto. head is a little rusty around the top of the valves and top of piston.. id just clean everything up and good to go.. new gaskets.. the area inside the head around the cam is still spotless. thanks drew

OK, so while I *should* just bolt all this stuff back together and get the bike running....

what if I wanted to add a few CCs to the motor on the cheap? Are there any inexpensive Doctor ATV parts I can toss in this 6V motor to get a little more oomph?
