Questions about Registration..Found 2 frames with Vin!!

Ive been working on my dads 1980 ct70 for a few yrs off and on.. its finally coming along very well..

now my old man bought the bike over 10yrs ago..

and says he has a signed affidavit for the bike..

NOW! the bike has no vin number. she was really abused.. missing alot of stuff. turn signals... ignition etc etc u would think it was stolen the way it looked. but it ran. and ran well

Now am i up poop creek to get her street legal (willing to do the work)

or can i buy a old frame with Vin intact and use that frame.. or swap the vin... that isnt legal is it???

as far as i know the bike was never registerd for street use.. but i do not know the history of the bike.. the signed affidavit doesnt really do much for you..

Thanks!

Guys, you cannot get a title for a frame that doesn't have a VIN stamped on it, unless you have a DMV that's dumber than a box of rocks. You also cannot use a VIN on one frame and transfer it to another. Hooper's frames come with a MSO, Honda's frames (still available from Japan) don't have VIN#'s stamped on them. I think you're screwed. Buy another frame that has a VIN, get it titled and transfer to Canada, hell'uva lot easier and legal. FWIW

Well the seller got back to me about the frames

bought them off of farmer that was selling his place, stored in his barn by someone who put them there in late 70 early 80 never came back he didnt know the guy farmer used that barn for storage i dont know farmer guy he was moving and sold the stuff, using free ad in triad...

Now how can i check the history of the bikes... im sorry im new to this for motorcycles.

just dont wanna have to fork out $$$$ that i dont really have to find out the frames are stolen..

Get the VIN # and go to the ministry (tell them you are thinking of buying it.)and get a vehicle history report. cost you $20. This will tell you if it is stolen.
