okay so my bike was acting up and and it wouldnt shift into first and i would have to hold shifter down to keep it in second, but when i had it dissasembled everyhting seemed that it just magically started to work again but when i fired it up and went to take off... IT DID THE SAME THING...i have to hold the shifter down to keep it in gear and when it does go into first (which it hardly ever does), any backward movement AT ALL will throw it outta gear, but if its in gear...it will stay there until about 3/4 throttle before shift and then it just revs up out of gear. 3rd and 4th work perfect all the time and second works better than first and first hardly works at all...is it my shift drum or forks or is it maybe an issue with the star? any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you had occasion to remove the trans cluster and separate the drum/forks from the trans shafts, possibly you may have reinstalled the cluster with the drum out of position, instead of being in neutral, and now, the trans won't shift right(?)

is it possible that (theoretically) my detent arm maybe "skipped a slot" on the star? because it seems that neutral is not between first and second, but second and third. is the above mentionted even possible?
