My kit finally came in on Monday. I'm not going go buy a stupid tool to take the clutch off. So i'm not putting the oil pump in yet. I might keep it in case I get a stroker crank in the near future. But I got most of it together last night. I'm going to put the carb on today and see if I can get this puppy started.

Question if you time the wrong stroke will the valves hit the Piston?

Everything clears right now. I adjusted my valves. I just want to make sure it's right. Especially since the "intructions that came" with the trail bikes kit were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO detailed! lol

You mean you actually had instructions lol. But Backnut you dont have to have a special tool to take the clutch off, just a screwdriver and a hammer to undo the little ring thingy, its super easy. Did you get the head as well, if so you may want to rethink about putting that oil pump in because it runs very hot with the head.

Well I didn't go for the race head I still have the stock head on it, and no I didn't get any instructions I had to d/l the off of 2bros website.

But as far as timing the wrong stroke will the valves hit the piston or not? Right now when I spin the motor by hand everything clears and spins free. But I'm not sure if it's on the right stroek or not. The only way I will know is if the valves hit the piston when the cam is 180 off.

Im sure you could just use the Trailbikes piston and just simply trim the skirt on it to clear the crank.

Compression will be too high unless you run race gas. Run the Kitaco stroker piston, or cut off some of the dome on the Trailbikes piston.

At this time, Kitaco makes the 51mm stroker crank of choice. Better balanced then the Dr. ATV stroker crank, Powroll crank, and I think the Takegawa stroker cranks are garbage.

Well as long as you can spin it over a few times without anything hitting then it should be fine and ready to start.

I go the timing right! I got it started last night the bike runs great but I need to take everything off to put the oil pump in. It runs alot hotter than I expected. So i'm going to try and get the clutch off tonight and install the new Kitaco oil pump.

Any tricks to doing this without the special tool?

If your still running the stock head I wouldnt worry about the oil pump, I didnt change mine out when I was running the stock head either. Because to install it you will have to take your head and cylinder all back off and remove one of the engine studs so that you can drill out the oil orifice. But if you do decided to do it takeing the clutch off is actually pretty simple. Just take a screwdriver and a hammer and you can hammer the tabs down on the little star thing and it will come right off, pretty simple. But anyways, installig the oil pump without drilling out the orifice wont make a differnce because it wont be able to flow anymore oil through the small hole.

Does your bike run hot at all? I started up and let it idle for about 10-15 minutes last night adjusting the idle up and down like every 3 minutes to work harden that cam and when i shut it off the pipe was sizzling hot. I could bairly touch the motor for more then a second at a time. I'm just worried that if i go ride the crap out of this thing if it will let go on me then i'll be screwed. I really don't want to tear back into it untill i get my stroker crank.

Do you have any problems with out your oil pump? Do you have to stop riding it after like 15 minutes and let it col down. On the stock 50 me and my friends ride for 2-3 hours striaght sometimes. WIll I still be able to do this with the 88 kit?

Before I switched to the race head I had a stock ported head and was using the stock oil pump. I put the high volume pump in when I switched to the race head and manual clutch. But when I was running the stock ported head I would ride the snot out of it. I even raced it a couple times and as you can guess that required me holding it WFO and reving its guts out for like 15minutes at a time. It would get hot enough that you definetly couldnt touch it but not hot enought that it was going to hurt it. So with the stock head you should be fine and I wouldnt worry about changing the pump out till you stroke it like you said. So go ride the dog out of it man and dont worry, itll be fine.

If you want a cheap alternative throttle to one of those billet ones get a stock xr70 throttle. Thats what im using and it works pretty good.

The cable that comes with the kit will work with the bbr throttle you just have to trim an inch and 1/4 of the plastic/metal sheiled off that small end of the cable. Be carefull trimming it because I cut the bottom inch of my bbr cable off trying to do the same thing. But I was able to make it work.

This kit rips guys!. I can ride wheelies to the top of second and shift to 3rd and ride a wheelie to the top of third. Can't wait to get it on the dirt. I need to put my 15th sprocket on. First gear is non existent on this thig right now. Also jetting was spot on. I adjusted the air screw out 1 3/4 turns and put the needle in the middle position and the bike runs perfect up here at 5280ft.

But I do have a question. Does anyone else with a TB kit have a slight tick in it? My valves are adjusted properly but there is still a slight ticking coming from the top of the motor.

Yeah your not the first with the ticking noise lol. I think that it is the head gasket hits the piston or something like that. Mine used to do the same thing. Not really sure what it is.
