Has anyone made a crank breather for the sdg because obviously all the available kits are made for honda style motors with the round caps. Has anyone made their own or know of where i can get a crank breather kit for the sdg. I made my own for the last honda styled motor bike i had.

If you have just wondering how u went about it?

Here is a pic of my SDG with a head breather on it.

filter ?

With the head breathers does anyone put a filter on them or is a filter not need'd ?

Ive got a couple of filter's from CATAPILLA machines that are smallish that i was planing on useing but just havn't got around to drilling and tapping the valve cap i just do get a chance to get near a fitting store to find one the right size for 1/2 inch hose

If you look closely you will see the filter for the head breather right behind the air filter. I removed the key ignition and mounted it there...

hey mini man that looks good...so you just totally unistalled the key all together because that might be a good idea becuz that thing is just in the way with my air filter and stuff. Did you just drill the stock cover out and tap that fitting down in?? And eichkay some guys do run them with filters or alot of guys run the tubing the whole way down the frame and down the subframe just up under the rear fender too.

I got rid of the ignition when I installed a Kitaco inner rotor kit. The stock ignition burned out on me, and to me the key is pretty useless.

And for the head breather one of my friends just drilled and tapped it, you can find all the fittings at pepboys...

sounds good miniman i was planning on drilling and tapping that in the first place just wanted to make sure everything would be fine there..and i will def. be removing that dam key asap. Just out of curiousity what size tires are you running on ur's front and rear?? if u want to what tire is it that ur running also but if u dont wanna let that info out its all good i kno everyone has their secret weapon haha..thanks i was just wondering cuz i need to get motard tires here for our fall and winter riding indoors in VA..

No problem.... The tires are cheap Cheng Shin tires that I bought to try Motard. I am running 3.50-10 on both front and back.

ha ha sounds good man i was just trying to get an idea of what size tire i could put on there. Those cheng shins look pretty good for the money. I ran pirelli SL26's last year on my xtreme and they hooked up so i might just go with those on my SDG also..Thanks for the help

Miniman is there anyway you could post that picture again. Also could you tell me what parts to pick up at pepboys? I want to drill and tap my bike for a head breather I just don't know what size to drill it out or what part to screw in.

wow, your sdg has a different carb and the manifold is asembled different than mine. i have a mikuni that came stock. and the black insulator plate that is between your manifold and cylinder. is between the carb and the manifold on mine. chinese consistancy. pshhh

it just makes your seals last longer, especially if you go big bore and stroke it. thats when you really need it, cause the engine is displacing that much more air inside the engine each time it goes around, and trying to do it thru that tiny hole in the case. it will free up tiny amounts of power on an engine that has been overbored a large amount.

I hear that the oil goes up the tube and leaks out??? Is this true for all bikes?

It won't leak out. It shoots a bit up when you first start it but not much goes up the hose. Look how long it is?
