i have had a reply from DNM

they have said that currently there is not a service manual available and they are working on one at the moment

Ive heard that before...:D

Just cant imagine that a company thats so big and has been around for a while does not offer up support for each set of their Products.....

my advice is take thenm to a qualified Suspension company that will "DEAL" with DNM products

what length are they?...Not sure what the Pitster GPX Red Top forks are but..I replaced my oil in them with Honda 10wt oil...with an 85mm airgap to the top of fork...which came to right at 6oz in each fork leg.

I am about 180lbs after the first dump of the day......8)

with the technical interenals these forks are comming with ...Now-a-days the companys should produce some Suggested Fork fluid wt & Fork Fluid levels as Marzocchi does

as most of the Companys have Copied...

Riders weights and riding abilitys would also be a good suggestion for the do it yourselfer

this is the reply i have just got from DNM

they seem to be replying pretty quick and fast now with the emails

Dear Sir,

The spring in your fork may bending , which caused the click noise .

As for oil ,usually for length 780mm M-200, oil need 350cc, and for length

680, oil shoul be about 250cc.

regards

DNM

They use a progressive type spring setup....it has 2 springs with a connector in the middle. Sometimes a spring coil will slide up the connector when compressed and then make a click sound when it pops off the connector during rebound. You can ditch the progressive springs and go with a standard single spring. I'm pretty sure that the zokes springs will work but they are little too long and have to be cut to the correct length.

Also, check your fork guards and make sure there is nothing rubbing against the upper leg when compressed and then clicking when rebounding.....sometimes the screws that hold the brake line stick out of the back of the fork guard and scratch the upper leg....they can make a click on rebound....if thats the case, get a shorter screw or shim it with a washer.

the fork ismaking the clicking nois naticabley on compression

i will try to make a short you tube clip and link it up

this is what dnm have just replied

WTF dangerous to pull the forks apart ???

its more dangerous to ride oround onthese bloody china bikes...

Hi,

Our think the main reason is the spring bend.

Usually you are not allowed to disassemble the fork by yourself, which is

dangerous.

could you tell us where are live, or we can find if there any DNM dealer

near you ?

without picture of your fork , it is hard for us to make some suggestions.

regards,

DNM

BTW i contacted there listed dnm dealer off there web site and he said he hasnt delt with them in 2 years

ok i drained the forks up side down of all oil over night

and the clicking noise has gone away

so i suspect the clicking is comming from the piston/shim stack area of the fork not the spring

i have stripped them down as far as i can go

but i am not confident on how to get the piston out of the bottom

i dont know if these are just loctited toghter and are not ment to come apart ???

any one got some answers

am i just worrying about some thing i shouldnt and should i just put some oil back in them and go riding ?
