Ok so i installed the rings, and just wanted to know what measurement everyone is talking about? Do i just install the rings stock it in the cylinder and go from there? What is this 12 o'clock, 6 o'clock thing you guys talk about?? Can't wait to get this thing running (just need an impact driver and clutch nut to install the HV oil pump, and then throw on the head/cylinder and all.

theres a certain way that the rings need to be aligned. go to danosbikeshop.com and click on big bore kit install instructions and it gives you pics of exactly how they should go on, its really helpful. and youll love the 88 kit, i just threw a racehead kit on mine yesterday and DAYUMM!!

Haha that's awesome! yeah, earlier i had my dad print out the big bore kit instruction so i could take it out in the garage lol. I ruined a dowel, the one behind the cylinder i think? or in front, not sure, there are 2 of them, the centering dowels. Now i gotta order another :(. And dam.. i was just playing with the cylinder/piston trying to slide it in cause i was curious lol and the cyclinder cut my finger right open... ouch.

dam that blows yeah just make sure you take your time when your sliding the piston into the cylinder, just go one ring at a time and make sure the gappings right when you get it. the top 2 are a hugee pain but the oil and retaining rings are pretty easy. ive done it like 3 times already and ive only had my 88 kit since christmas.. lol. and are the dowels your talking about the knock pins??

The two centering dowels, the go in between the cylinder and the head and the dowels go through them.. oh and how do i check the "gap" and what is it?

well its more like the allignment of the piston rings. like if you lok at the pics of the first 1-3 pages of the big bore kit instructions it gives you pics of rings and how they should be alligned when they go into the cylinder. oh and make sure when you put the top 2 on the flat black one is on the bottom and one thats shiny on the outside is on top. and those dowels are knock pins.

wat are you gapping?

the sparkplug go to a local hardware store and get a plug gapper

if you are checkin the gap of the top of the piston to the bottom of the head alot of people have there own way of checking i use clay

ok, good ;D. Earlier i tried making a clutch nut socket but it didn't work, im just gonna wait to see if my friend has one if not im going to order one along with another one of those engine studs..

yeah cant blame yo but youll definently wanna put either hd clutch springs or and HD/manual clutch on there cause it will slip like h3lllll. or you can run it like that till it stops working all together. thats prett much wht i did. lol

Yeah its a stock clutch. My dad said scr3w it since it is like 25$ shipped for the socket, we are just gonna take it into the shop and have them take it off, then put it back on..

haha i didnt like to hear my bike hitting 11500 rpms after shifting from 2nd to 3rd :p the hd auto clutch was well worth the 65.00 tho im still using it to thid day and have had no problems whatsoever.
I see, well i have a question. When i slide the piston through into the cylinder, do the gaps have to be a certain way? In the diagram it looks like one is facing about 2 or 3 o'clock and the other is about 9 or 10 o' clock, is this right? How do i know how far away they have to be???

honestly i dont think it matters at all as long as they are as close as possible to what they look like in the pic. besides if it had to be EXACTLY athe picture puts it it'd be pretty much imposible to get on the right way.. thats how ive done it the past three times and my bike runs perfectly fine. make sure your oil/retaining rings are alligned too, theres a pic for that on the directions.
