I split the cases on an xr50 motor I had bought (for parts) because there was somethign rattling inside. Turns out there was a bolt in the case (i have no idea where its supposed to go or where it came from). There are also two holes in the cases and I was wondering if they could be fixed (JB weld??). What do you think? The first is located where the kickshaft rests (or where the screw that holds the flywheel cover screws into) and the second is located where one of the footpeg bolts screws into on the clutch side.

Clean the area real good with contact cleaner to remove the oil residue, and take it to a welder, and have it done right. You can then dress up the area by the kickstarter spindle with a dremel.

Why not just find some clean cases?

Engine cases are super hard to weld. Hopefully he is really good at welding. I have only really seen points cases or bored cases for sale. I have 2 sets of points cases, but I really need a set of cdi cases as well.
