It usually grows back, but there's no guarantee that you will grow back the full nail.



OP, the picture isn't as bad as what everyone is saying. It should be a nice story to tell family though. Finger nails are overrated anyway.

I had two ripped off my left hand about 10 years (long extremely painful story). I even had 8-10 stitches on each finger where the nails used to be to hold the mangled skin that was left in place. After about 1 year they grew back but they are 1/8th of a inch shorter now!
