I just got done installing a new IRC 10" rear tire without pinching a tube. I then noticed I installed it the wrong direction according to the direction of rotation on the tire. The tread pattern looks consistent either direction. I really don't want to take it off and reinstall it if I don't have to. Let me know, thanks alot.

I ran a tire the wrong way on my big bike for 2-3 races of a series, got the same tire new and put it on right and I liked it better backwards lol.

Cool, thanks! What is the reason for that cetain direction? Just curious why it even matters.

Tread pattern and the way the company designed it to hook up... Just think about putting something like a tractor tire on backwards.... just wouldnt work right haha :(

P.S. 1500th post! haha

On some tires that are designed for wet/dry conditions, it has to do with getting water out from under the tire. Putting it on correctly moves water from the middle to the outside of the tread. Putting it on backwards would move water from the sides to the middle of the tire.

it doesnt really matter sometimes its simply a reference point in case you ever take it off and then re-install it, if you run it one direction and then run it another( on accident if it didnt have a reference mark) it wouldnt last at all and would pretty much fall apart

a tire can be directional because of the makeup of the carcass. the cording can be wrapped a certain way to resist flex and distortion under acceleration. running it backwards, the tire may not perform as well as it could. probably not much of a concern on a 50 tho ;)

normally if you run a front tire in the rear or vise versa you run the tire backwards.
