After talking with Mike and Mark at AHP..... I have no doubt that they will take care of the problem I have been having with my motor. Mike at Trailbikes offers a generous amount of support that can't be beat. We have an "idea" of what my problem could be but won't know until further inspection. If/when I find out.... you guys will know too. I do know that only a very small amount of the kits have had a problem. It happens when things are mass produced. Any and all problems will be addressed asap. TB has built a reputation that speaks for itself and it's hard to overlook that. Anyway, I said I'd update so this is where we stand. My head is on it's way back to Mike. He will find the cause of the bent valves and let me know. In the end, I will probably just miss out of riding time with the stretch of nice weather we have coming up. It sucks but I WILL be riding soon.

makes me feel better considering I'm buying a 88cc race head from them soon. Hopefully they'll get it all straight.. My last TB race head was bulletproof.

Pretty much same here. Will inform everyone what ends up happening but im sure Mike at TB is gonna fix the problem and from the sounds of it me and HRC have bad luck and may have just got a head that had a manufacture defect which is very rare from tb.

Well reason why we are being nicer is cause the problem is being fixed now. Was upset, angry frusterated, and pissed cause:

-1st I finished building my street legal bike which i dumped a ton of money into and only got to ride it a little over an hour.

-2nd I had to push my bike home a couple of miles.

-3rd All the time/labor that went into building the bike.

-4th Then I here of several cases of this happening.

-5th The down time

Now who cant agree I had a reason to be mad?

trail bikes has a awesome reputation for customer service i had a stock head pitson break and ruin my stock head and he sent me a race head no charge

wow one second you two are on here raising hell about TB parts and the next your talking them all up. hahaha

I agree, they sure did get awfully vocal. And Mike has a great reputation, so it most likely could have (and should have) been resolved independent of this forum. I guess it's easy to slam the man since he doesn't come on here all the time like other vendors do. His products speak for themselves. Truth is, we will never know exactly what happened or what caused the failure in this instance, but Mike now has an unjustified smudge on his name because of this.

That said, I have a 25/22mm race head that I bought right when they first came out. I'm still running it, and it hasn't given me a lick of trouble after 2000 miles. Same can be said for his billet clutch basket and heavy duty clutch plates.

Actually, I said I would keep everyone updated.

That doesn't mean that I'm happy with two bent valves or the fact that a nice stretch of weather starts tomorrow and I won't be riding in it. I am not thrilled AT ALL about this situation but TB deserves the credit for A+ customer service.

.... and for the record I have stuck up for TB MANY times. When you have 2 valves bend it causes a little frustration. I NEVER slammed TB as a company..... just the valves.

OK well now its makin us look like the bad guys now. Mike agreed that out of his 300 heads he orders there is no doubt a chance that some may be bad. And he agrees to totally fix the problem if that does happen. He said it is very rare but it does happen. One time he ordered 3000 heads and they were all bad. Quote "luckily I only sold 25-30 of them and had them all recall and the problem fixed. What is happening is the factory does so many that if the valves are not sunk into the head enough the clip each other and if they are sunk in to far the retainer get hit. Thats what I was told and im pretty sure me and HRC just have bad luck and got a bad head. But problem is gonna be fixed. I do think it was not completely right to bash tb but we never did it to the company just the heads. And its not like we were wrong about the heads failing.

I agree. That brayners guy makes it look like I'm the bad guy. Maybe he doesn't know it.... but there ARE manufacturing issues that cause the very problem I am having. Wanna know? Ask Mike.... cuz he explained it to me!!! brayners post is whats unjustified. It's funny how some people like to turn around a situation. I think they don't know what they are talking about(obvious by his rambling). He's also saying we slammed Mike??? Dude, stfu already, you don't have a clue what your saying. Also, anyone remember my attitude towards TB after bending the first valve? I remember it being very forgiving with a sh*t happens attitude while remaining very pro TB.

Let me try to clear this up. Both HRC and RC164 emailed me after that thread was posted the other day. I read through the post and called and spoke to both of them about situation.. Both were very pleasant on the phone but at the same time I could understand that both were frustrated. I did explain kind of what RC164 posted above. Its not often it happens but if the valves are not sunk deep enough in the head, the overlap becomes an issue and can bend valves. If they go too deep, then the rocker arm will hit the retainer - its a fine line and again, the vast majority will never have a problem. I told both I am guessing this is the situation with their heads since both bent valves twice and while just cruising along, but wont know until we receive them back and look at them. So, am having them send them back and will get them squared away. I also did mention to them that I wish I was given an opportunity to address the problem before it got posted on a web site for two reasons. One, so I could be made aware of a problem if there was one and two, I had the chance to correct the problem to the customer's satisfaction. Both thought this was reasonable and that maybe it got a bit out of hand in the thread. At the same time, both were frustrated so I know where they were coming from. My advice is if you have a problem with any vendor, part, buying on ebay, planetminis etc., is to try to first deal directly with that company or person. If that fails, then take it to any place where you think you can get help - web boards, better business bureau etc....Most people who know me or have had a problem with our parts know that I go the extra mile to help out when there is a problem. Our parts are never going to be 100% perfect all the time, but I can assure you I will do my best to resolve any issue to your satisfaction. Any issues or problems please email hondatb@aol.com - please email as I am not on here often to respond to questions, comments etc...

Hopefully, will get HRC and RC164 back up and running soon and they can post updates if they choose too.

No I'm not trying to make you look like a bad guy. I'm saying you handled yourself childishly.

Why because we got mad that our fully bult bikes blew up quickly? Come on now im sure youd be pissed to. Problem is being solved and unless you have something better to say id say stay out of it. Cause even Mike understands and we understand him.

You had every right to be angry. But perhaps it might have behooved you to contact TB first. If you were ignored and the problem went unresolved, THEN start your witch hunt. BTW, if you need me to, I can give you a link to the original post where said nastiness was being slang far and wide.

TB does have great customer service. they will even help you out with parts that arent theirs and give you as much info and help as they can. great company
