If I said we could have a inhouse powdercoater in the shop within the next couple months, how much interest would there be in getting parts powdercoated? Many of you guys get this done? Something that might interest you...?

Feedback please.

No clue on cost yet, just an opportunity arose for a powder coater to move in with us (we have a large shop in a suburb of Vancouver). I'm sure the cost would be pretty competitive, and he'd offer everything from solids, to candys, chromes, matte & gloss... etc.

Thats expensive for around here, but I guess it all depends on your location.

The problem is if you look locally you will find guys who will PC for very cheap, just cost too much to ship and re ship. A shop down next to me does $35 to PC a 16" car wheel and I have had my bike frames and swing arms done for $70 (including sandblasting)

IMO/Suggestion, Dont waste your time and money on the PCing business and all that equipment. Based on this thread, it doesnt look like there'd be much serious interest. However, I would be interested in misc items like Custom seat covers, leatt socks, custom ipod skins, helmet graphics...... Dont get me wrong, by all means, you should do PCing if thats something you're really looking to do. Just my .02;)

Shipping would be the killer of your proposition. If the powder coater is running a particular color it would be pretty cheap to add a few pieces in and that might make it cheap enough... just post up what color is going to be done a week in advance. .02 given
