Been without a mini for too long and am planning on spending some tax return $ on a new bike.

My wants:

-Prefer a midsize, have only had 10" bikes but want to step up to something a little larger (I am 6'3")

-Durability is more important than performance, Ive got enough stuff to wrench on I want to beat it up, put it away wet and be able to pull it out of the corner of the garage and go whenever

My needs:

-125cc or larger

-Ready to rock out of the box

-New, don't want to buy a used bike

The bike will probably never be raced, rarely see a track. Mostly ditch banging, trail riding, winter lake riding and occassional light track duty.

My price range is up in the air...I am thinking probably max of $1000 but may considered jumping up to $1500 for the SSR140.

That said, these are 3 bikes at the top of my list...

PITSTER

PITSTER

PITSTER

The ultramegaonestopsinglehanded answer to all your pitbike needs, making you more attractive, smarter and more successful in life with the only downside being and empty wallet, a sore butt and total loss of the ability to properly spell some of the most common words in the english langwich....ooohh god its already started. Im going to go sing up for the arenacross classes ASAP.

SSR140

Pros-sweet bike, lots of good features, looks amazing, good power

Cons-upper end of my price range

SSR140-TX Mid-Size Pit Bike SSR Motorsports Pit Bike Mini 140cc

Orion OPBS-125

Pros-looks very durable, nice looks, good features, more easily in my price range

Cons-heavy, slow(er), questionable quality?

Orion Pit Bikes

PCCmotors 125

Pros-price is awesome, still midsize, looks to have a couple nice features

Cons-lesser quality suspension than other 2, not as many good parts (needing more upgrages), lots of unknown information on parts, service, etc.

DIRT PIT BIKE LIFAN 125CC ENGINE CHROMOLY FRAME KLX

deff. not the pcc motors.... if you don't want to splurge on the ssr ... go with the orion... I lucked out by going with a knock-off perimeter frame before the company was sued by BBR because its the same frame they made.... it'll be strong enough big boy, maybe some stronger footpegs....

I was thinking the same, maybe go with the Orion since it is more wallet friendly then upgrade the motor after a year. But the SSR is so freakin sweet!

the new pitster or check out the new ssr 150. the ssr is one of the best built china bikes i ve seen.

Neither of those are in my price range....like stated above. $1k is really probably my limit, $1500 would be quite a stretch just for the SSR.

medinaminisx.com the clone bike for cheaper then the ssr and you cn get all the parts and they have a better motor. its 160cc. tell them jason sent you. thank you.

Very cool, although again that could be a little to pricey for me, still unsure of how much I will be able to spend. I know for sure $1500 would be the limit but it could end up being $900-1000. Gotta build a new motor for my ski and give my tard a little lovin' too.

At $1,459.00, that thing is overpriced

The Orion stamped steel frame is pure crap.

Watch out for excessive freight and handling charges. They're famous for that.

Check out Planet Minis advertisers. Some of them (MedinaMiniSX) have ok prices, many don't.

For under $1K, you may want to look at this:

Piranha ZTX 140cc Pit Bike

You get what you pay for. Do not buy a cheap bike that you cannot get parts for. I would not even consider buying anything other than a Pitster or SSR. My Pitster has been abused everytime its been ridden and it continues to amaze me. If you need parts they are readily available online from Pitster or other companies such as AHP Minis or T-Bolt. Trust me, save more money and go for a better bike!!!

buy the clone from medinamx........no way to beat his prices for a descent chinese bike.

The PCC bikes are a pos and so is that Hunter the owner.
At $850 the roller is in my price range but then I would need to get an engine...

That seems to not be 100% true when dealing with china made pitbikes. I personally can't justify buying a bike for over $1k at the moment, way to many other things going on. I want something to rip up the neighborhood, hit jumps and ride some trails. A pitster is out of my price range, if I wanted to hear "get a pitster" 50 times I would have read half the other threads on this forum and that is why I didn't put them on the list. I am looking for a bike that fits the criteria stated in the first post, that is all.

Good luck on your purchase. Don't take my or anyone else's advice.

:roll:LOL don't get butthurt because your advice is the same as every other Pitster owner and I am not really interested, just telling you how it is.

My last bike was a worn out SSR-110 that I threw a Lifan 140 in and beat on for a few months. It had loose spokes, a crap shock, junk bars and no rear brake but it was fun as hell. I want something a little bigger and a little nicer this year but don't want to go broke doing it.

$550 bike + $300 S/H = $850.

Is that 125 worth $850?

Not so much.

VwMatty said:
Butthurt huh? This is why I love Planetminis.

I thought you were looking to upgrade from an SSR... a PCC? or an Orion?

No reason that 'Pitster' owners have the same advice, none at all.

Good luck kiddo
I am looking for a new midsize bike over 125cc under $1001. If you can show me a pitster that fits my needs, I am all about it, if not then it seems you are just post dumping.
