I just bought this fully built bike. The previous owner spared no expense like 4 years ago. The motor was built by two bro's. Takegawa 106 stroked w/ older super head. (I think) Takegawa 3 speed (neutral on bottom). Tak cdi, Tak older clutch + cover. Kein 26mm carb. probably already jetted spot on with Tak's specifications. I don’t know the details. came with 16t front sprocket and 39 rear. 10 in rear tire.

So I think it was built for large track racing. It has a tone of top end is crazy fast. I can put all my weight forward ant goose it, it will still lift the front. does around 45-50 and gets there real fast. The problem for me is hill climbing, coming out of corners and preloading for jumps and lower speeds.

It has no low end power or torque, it will bog up hill climes unless I’m wound up real high. No chance of shifting, will stall, or pull front over back. I talked to BBR, they said they don’t know about the Tak kits and tuning. Two brothers were no help. They said I needed the Tak dual overhead cam 124 kit. lol no way. BBR said it might have a street race cam built for all top end. what do you guys think?

I just tried a 14 t front sprocket and does not help the low end sput and bog.

any cheap or easy things to try before ordering a cam or less stroked crank?

Thanks!!!

What flywheel does it have? If it's an IRK or a lighten flywheel, go back to the OEM flywheel.

The extra mass will help with the stalling.

You don't need the 4V head. They make more power, but also no bottom.

I think a 24mm carb would help your lowend torque/bog problem. I agree with dood's comment of the flywheel, although I use a IRK on my 108. It does take a diff riding style with the IRK versus the stock flywheel.

This motor is designed to be rapped out 100% of the time...so don't expect it to have low end. The power band comes on around 7k and should go up to 12k. If you wanted a motor for torque and grunt, you got the wrong one.

I have a full blown takegawa 124+r in a streetbike. It will do 75mph but it doesn't have anything below 5k rpm. Its designed to be revved...so rev it.

ya my style old super head 124 motor has major bottom end and still pulls top end for ever. Something is a miss in the motor you have maybe the timing is off a tooth or it needs a valve job being it has some time on it.

A 24mm is the way to go ,I ran the pe24 on my 106, 115 and 117 and had good torque on all of them.I think a 26 is to big for anything under a 124cc.I'd take my 24 against a 26 any day on the same setup.

you should see some of the 50's he's talking about, (kart2kart) unreal

I ran at kart2kart also and had the R-Stage kit on mine,i ran a 13/40 and had a lot of pull out of those corners, even the faster road race guys the carry their corners much faster didn't get by me until i let off the gas.

Hey Fire,whats your name yo?

Terry. No riding, except open practice days. 6'3 and 300lbs, more moving chicane than competitor. I do all my damage on the workbench;)

Darren's Tak Super 106, Sano, Zokes, Flox Float, bike is available...

A friend of mine had this same engine setup....with a 24mm carb and auto clutch.

It was also top end monster, but no bottom end. You had to keep it revving all the time to ride it fast. The newer style setup of this engine is amazing though 106 superhead +R..i rode one the other week and its totally different. Pulls hard all the way through. Very smooth and easy to ride. I'd upgrade to that new style head for sure,.

Thanks for the help, anyone know a cheap place to get the newer +r supper head? Does it physically look different? any more details? what about just replacing the cam? any suggestions?

Cheap...lol you'll never see that, even if it's used, and yes they look different. That head alone runs about $600,as far as a new cam i'm not really sure on those but you can look that up.I would just mess with the gearing and find something that works for you,or like said above somewhere you could try a smaller carb,a 26 is kinda big for a 106.
