i have a 1990 xr100 not going to lie it is way clapped out and needs some tlc. It runs and thats awesome considering it was free. i want to get it fresh but on the "college student budget" i would like do bore it but keep stock cylinder, head, crank, etc. basically i dont want to shell out the money for the bbr tak or kitaco kit 1 because there way exspensive and 2 bbr is saying there big bore kit only dates back to 93 does anyone know how far can the stock cylinder skirt be bored out on this bike any help would be appreciated very much! thank you!

Yup. Get the kit. Mod the airbox, get a cheap pipe, jet it, roost.
Boring the stock jug for $50, piston kit for $60-100, gaskets add $15, cam $65, downtime, finding a shop to bore it, etc...

thanks, how is that bbr kit? is it worth the extra 100? and will both of those kits fit on a 1990? i dont see why they woulndt considering they are the same all thru? maybe im wrong... and what is this air box mod? as you can see i am new to planet mins =P

well the tb xr100 kit is very good set up and tons of customers have done it with great responses and it fits all xr/crf100

A couple 1" hols in the cover or top, remove the flame arrestor from the filter cage, get a good aftermarket element.
i figured thats what it might be but thanks alot for the help. I moved to Florida and the bike is coming down from PA from my friend who is coming down for mini o's and said he will bring it down. So the project should start after thanksgiving! ill be sure to keep it posted! hopefully ill have a sweet little project to work with. thanks
