IDK but we r in the process of trying to make a clarification on this subject. Lets use my bike as an example. It has and 88 kit, kitaco ignition, +2 fork springs, +1 legs, iShock w/ res, fmf powercore 4 bigbore exhaust, big pegs, bars, tall seat, skidplate, tires, cdi, +2.5 swinger, +1 shifter, kevlar clutch, skidplate and gearing. wut on it has to go to make it a stocker?

JMO!! i think that the 88 kit would have to go, (as long as cylinder says 49cc your good) +2.5 swinger. the pipe wont give you that much, nore the coil and everything else is looks.. (but looks gives you 10 hp to the wheels)!! haha

the motor is fine... Its called a stock mod! Stock mod = stock looking/anything gose motor wise as long as you have a stock head.

as far as vegas goes...stock frame, swingarm, and forks, but minor fork mods like springs and legs are legal. pipe and cam legal...stock head but can have bigger valves and porting, cast iron cylinder marked 49cc, stock carb with choke, aftermarket shock ok, tall seat, bars, hd rims, must have stock drum brakes, for the most part you can change the looks, as for suspension, pretty much stock with a shock, and motor must "appear" stock

have they ever ripped a motor down in vegas to check cylinder and piston for being stock?

All my buddies that I ride with consider stock bikes to be OEM frame and motor w/ cone filter, stock pipe (neighbors), stiffer springs front/rear, tall seat, tall bars, pegs, skidplate, sprockets can be changed, cosmetics can be changed and tires can be updated from OEM to your choice. I think that covers it..

I've never heard of a teardown in Vegas. Vegas "stock" rules are very builder friendly if you know what I mean.;)

Stock forks

Drum brakes

10" wheel maximum size

Stock frame

Stock Swingarm

No clutch

Stock cylinder and head

Stock transmission (no 4 speeds, 3 speeds, Takegawa etc.)

About it. Keep those things, change the rest.

i think from what i have grasped collectively is that Vinces bike as an example...

...he would have to put stock swingarm back on... and then use his OEM cylinder for any engine mods he wants to do... as well as OEM head.

you guys are totally missing the point. a stocker means a stock bike, its just a word to classify your bike thats stock, aka it has no aftermarket mods. changing bars and such aren't really after market addons but when you go much further than that it turns into a modified bike.

i dunno about you guys but on the east coast a stocker is like this:

(and i think this applies to the whole Masters of Mini series too for Poor Boy class) is a stock frame, must use stock swinger, 49cc motor, stock head, stock transmission, stock clutch, and 10" wheels

in other words you can change accessories, but not major suspension or motor.

you can tune/port all you want but have to keep it 49cc no matter what... and keep the stock head.

any more displacement is considered "modified" even if you have stock suspension

acceptable mods include:

- brakes

- plus 1 forks, hd springs etc

- air filter

- rear shock/spring upgrades

- pegs

- plastics

- bars/clamps

- pipe

- CDI

this sounds pretty reasonable

I havent seen it at vegas but I have seen a 50 stripped down when someone protested at LACR. I felt bad too for the guy they stripped that thing down with no caution setting parts in the dirt and the worst part was he had to watch strangers strip his bike down and leave him with a bike he was not confident in and he had to go find some oil for the next race. But I cant think of a much better way to solve such disputes.

Anyone actually read all of the vegas rules? My favorite was the one about gas... someone can dispute ur gas and have it tested for octane and additives and if it fails u pay the lab fees, if it passes the disputer pays. ok back to the topic...

Being a tech at Minimoto for the past 3 years, your correct. It's about the sponsors and their riders getting on the podium. Your average rider does not stand a chance. McGrath couldn't get on the podium for a "by the rules" bike against stroker motors with worked stock carbs. I feel bad every year for the riders that come from all over to only get wasted by these cheater bikes.

I wish we could do tear downs!! I ask for it every year but the powers that be don't want. They are businessmen. Put asses in the seats, riders in the pits and the vendors bikes on the podium.

I volunteer to tech. I pay my way every year. Airfare, hotel, food etc. I do it for the love of the sport and to see the friends I made because of it.

By this rant, just probably lost my job. LOL! Just stating the facts.
