Hi,
I imported a gorilla from Japan and was wondering if anyone has information with regards to vin numbers from Japan. I'm trying to figure out the exact year model for restoration purposes. Here are the bike's VIN info: frame - Z50J1334297, engine - Z50JE1334337.

The numbers would suggest 1978 according to http://ka-ha.de/mm-history.html
Only yellow is not one of the colors of the first gorilla model year as far as I know. (red, blue or white with horizontal stripes on the tank)

It was actually imported through a broker. They did all the paper work and shipping. I wanted a bike that is street legal and enjoy riding it on a Sunday morning. There are lots of monkey bikes sold here in the states but the problem is, they don't have title and it makes it impossible to have it registered at the DMV.

Thank you. That's what I was trying to figure out. Although this bike has been repainted, I know it still has the original color. It could be that this specific color was not exported to Germany or other countries. Mine also has a 4-speed manual clutch.

All japanese gorilla's have 4-speed manual clutch.
(I have a jap 6volt gorilla from the 81-83 series, 6 volt 4 speed manual )

German is 3speed semiautomatic.
