Sorry if this has been asked a million times. The Honda Cloud Silver paint that is available, does it require primer for the wheels and engine side covers? Or is it direct to metal?

I polished the side covers before realizing that it needed paint, what prep is needed to rough them up. It would probably look better painted than polished. It will get rid of a few scratches.

That paint IS direct to metal. But in my experience, it's pretty difficult to do nice work with it. The metal flake in it, and the mediocre spray tip...plus my own inexperience maybe. I've had better results with some of the duplicolor, I think it was, spray bombs.

Glass bead blasting makes for a good surface to paint. Short of that, in your situation, I'd scuff it up with a medium scotchbrite pad, then clean it up really good with denatured or whatever.

Yea what Davmo said. Sometimes maybe 3 coats. Don’t try to cover with the first coat. Primer is a no no as stated. Shake the can for a long time also.
