Here's my build I hope to have it on the road early next year. I started on it about 5 years ago then my daughter was born and toys weren't a priority anymore. Blew the dust off a few weeks ago and decided it was time to get it finished. It's a 1990 YSR, 95 YZ250 motor with WR250 stator/lighting coil, shortened KX85 forks with ninja 250 springs, scooter shock in rear with shortened ninja 250 spring (might find better shock still), vortex clip ons, ninja 250 radiator, modified micron RZ350 pipe, R6 rear sets (maybe), hand made 4" over swingarm, trail tech vapor, ninja 250 caliper up front, stock fairings unless I get lucky and can find a set of the R6 fairings.

I'm going to run the pitster supermoto mag wheels so I can have a rear disc brake (and they look really cool) but they won't be back in stock until first part of December. So I'll have to wait until then to finish the front and rear brakes and swingarm

Here's some pics of the progress

Thanks I still have alot of work ahead of me on this one but it will be nice when it's done. I almost like not being able to buy off the shelf parts that way I get to be creative and make stuff work.

I was off to a good start then had to wait for parts then I just had hernia surgery Thursday. I have a box of new parts sitting out there waiting for me when I'm healed up enough to get back to work.

I'm currently searching for a better rear shock but having a hard time finding one with the correct spring rate. I have a ninja ex250 spring on that china shock. The spring rate is 440lb/in. All the pitbike shocks the length I need have 800lb/in + springs which are too stiff for what I need.

Well I think I found a solution to my shock problem. I had a R6 shock on there but it was way to stiff then I bought that scooter shock. I'm going to order a new softer spring from race tech and put the R6 shock back on there. That scooter shock doesn't have any compression or rebound settings so I'll throw it on a shelf and maybe use it on a smaller project

I also scored a brand new pair of black vortex clip ons for cheap so I'll be selling those silver ones if anyone is interested. They are 46mm and fit the kx85 and kx100 forks as well as the 98+ ninja zx6r

First off,KILLER BUILD!!! I am a firm believer in having a rear shock linkage system on the smaller bikes. The difference is night and day and worth it when done correctly. Good you found a softer spring, only means the linkage system setup ratio is good.

Not sure if I'm going to use the linkage set up or not. I might order the softer spring and see if it works. If not I'll just mount to to the swing arm without the linkage.

I know its a bit older but wondering what happened with your build. I too have resurrected my ysr250 (wr250) build. Wondering about your kx85 fork use. Is the stem for that triple fit the same bearings as the ysr neck or...what did you have to do toe get that all to fit?
Thanks

Hey I'm still working on the bike. I let it sit for a long time but it will be finished this year. I used the kx85 triple tree with all balls tapered bearing and a custom lower bearing adapter. I'm actually switching to yz85 forks soon so I'll post a pic of the lower bearing spacer when I pull the front end apart

Keep me posted. I am interested in the all the specs on the adapter you use and what forks etc. would like to update my 250 when that time comes as well.
Thanks
