Looking for some help with a bike that I just bought. Kid I got it from didn’t know anything about it. From I can tell it’s an XR70 frame with a KX60 swingarm and XR80 forks. I have no idea what shock is on the bike. I was originally planning to use the bike for parts but I may just build it up with my engine. Anyone have links or info on how to properly set up the suspension? I searched and found old threads where guys were saying the forks would work with the xr70 lower triple but you needed an aftermarket upper triple. This bike looks to have the XR80 triples on it top and bottom. Also I’m wondering if the shock is correct for the bike. As i said i don’t know exactly what shock it is.

The reason for the aftermarket top triple is to allow you to raise the forks, lowering the front end and avoiding the chopper look.

I'd have my doubts about that rear shock mount, especially with that particular shock length. One wrong flat landing could be messy.

If you have the KX60 rear wheel, mount it up and see what you need to do to the suspension to make it safe and ridable.
