Wiring Diagram for 12v Monkey, XR50, Anything!

Hey, so I want to start my project. Taking my '84 with XR50 motor and hooking it up for road. Looking to get a wiring diagram from a 12v Monkey that will let me work with the 12v XR motor.

I have 6v PA50 (moped) wiring diagram that I want to use but need to know what would be different, if anything. I guess that is another question then. What needs to be changes on a 6v Monkey (with battery) to rock a 12v motor?

Thanks a million. Hope to start a build thread when I get all my ideas together. Cant wait!

The ZB and CT diagrams are in the ZB tech sticky.
Thanks. So a ZB is a 12v then? My buddy has one so that might be nice to compare to

I'm not sure if I should run a battery or not.

If it's for road use (legaly), a battery is required so that you will have a working brake light and horn when your engine stalls.
Right, thats what I thought.

Heres a question then. On a XR motor, assuming I either wrap my own or buy a Ricky stator, will I have the correct wires coming out to wire it all up? Looking for it to be wired like a ZB50 which as the 12v and a battery.
Thanks all! I think I got everything I need...for today anyway. Sure I will have a bunch more questions about all of this.
so would a zb wiring harness be what i'm looking for for my lifan 125 z50 project? cause it's 12v and runs a bat and also has blinkers? where can i buy one and how much?

Stick with a honda Z50J2 monkey wiring harness. Or a wiring loom for a skyteam/jincheng/panda.... monkey version. But not for the lifan E-start monkey version, that one is designed for a different type of cdi. The lifan e-start cdi has a battery feed instead of the normal coil feed cdi.

The headlight and tail lights on the Jincheng only come on when the engine is running and the battery powers the blinkers and brake light. But, the Jincheng is road legal.

ZB50 harnesses are about as available as rocking horse poop. Get a Chinese Monkey clone harness and all the fixins.
Ok, so I redraw the wiring harness form a ZB and CT70. Hate looking at fuzzy images:)

I took out the neutral indicator as well as the meter light as I wont need them. My question is how will this mate up to my existing XR/Z wiring. Currently my bike has the XR ignition switch and the Z on/off switch (on bars). Trying to figure out what currently comes out of the stock XR stator. I know after I wrap it for lights, I will be adding one wire to that count. Does a ZB or CT70 have more wires coming out?

Great looking diagram. You may want to add the switch information at the bottom so people have an understanding of the switch continuity as well.

I'm sure people will find this handy in the future.

Hi, I think you made a little mistake on the dimmer- and turnsignal switch.

The yellow wire belongs to the dimmer switch and now it looks like to be part of the turn signal switch.

Nice clear diagram though:cool:
I will go back, add the switches and fix that. Thanks!

Nice thing is it only takes a sec to change anything on it. Its vector art.
Hows this? I think its all fixed.
