which forks do u guys perfer and why.... Bombshells... BBR SP-5.... Fast50s.... or stock with chromoly extended legs

Bombshell: when you first get on them they barely move down. like bryce said, racing purposes only. Goods: look great and have a disc brake with a sick red hub, downs: I have heard many complaints with problems, ive heard some say of bending a leg, many blowing seals, alot of oil leakage, and it scares me that last model they offered a new rotor upgrade to the disc brake, There disc brakes, should be top quality to start with, abother down is the price.

Fast50s, Downs: i guess they have a hole in it like bryce said and i know people go thorugh seals like crazy, Goods: designed by rg3, oil dampened on both sides, a mans fork, the bombshells are like air dampened/ other side oil dampened then a spring on the other side? some wacky set up, im not too sure wut it is, another down for this forks is that it is gold, i hate gold  , price is reasonable.

Bbr's : no complaints, old one was too soft, underdampened and undersprung, from what ive heard they fixed them in the new fork (sp5), price you just cant beat, only one down, the gold clamps

Sik50s: pretty fork, no complaints.

Right now I chose Marzocchi forks with 5 " of travel , i stiffened them up myself and they should wokr beautifully, Down is theres no clamp set up to covert them to the xr50, gotta hack some clamps and bearing up to fit (Thanks Vince :p ) You can also go beat up a little kid at the track and take his ktm front wheel with the disc set up and use that  , forks are cheap alternative that suit me well :D

And Stavrons: Look really good, but too expensive, ive seen one bike with them before and thats it. Good forks but im not forking over 1 grand to get a fork with no disc brake or fornt hub (correct me if im wrong stav) but thats a little pricey, But in my opinion, even though i havent ridden them, the stavron forks are the best forks currently out, if your rich and your looking for the best forks, hit stav up.

And maybe someday stavron will let me sell there stuff, an online business doesnt require a storefront in all manners in my opinion. :D

he only stated his opinion, which were all entitled to. i got bombshells comming soon i can't wait
damn guys everyone needs to just chill out and stop taking every thing that anyone ever says so serious  not naming ne names :p
MpR has a point. our forks are a little pricey but quality costs! I would like to see you build a product that is far better than anything else on the market, and costs considerably more than say a bombshell or even a marazochi fork to build, and then try and add a dealers profit margin into it, You'll quickly see how things start getting a little pricey.. i know what those guys pay for their parts. There is a reason they are paying so little and still being able to make huge profits. Bombshell couldn't make it in the bicycle market because the consumers got tired of the poor quality. If I were to make some lame product that didn't really work but it cost less and looked cool, everyone in here would be snappin to get it, and then bitchin about it later, just like they are with everyone elses products. If you want to try a set of my forks call me. We'll arrange a time and a place for you to test my bike (this offer only good in So Cal. to MpR and other serious buyers & Website or magazine editors). Then you tell me what suspension products out there even come close to what we're offering. It has never been my intention to sell a fork to everyone. But those that want the best and don't want the headaches that come with buying cheap products will appreciate what we have to offer. The way I look at it is, I'd rather pay a little more for quality parts to be able to ride more, than bitchin because i can't ride because I bought some cheap part and it broke and the people I bought it from won't stand behind there product. As far as the disc brake and hub that they sell with their forks. They have to provide you with something for you to attach to the front of your bike. Because you can't bolt the stocker up to it. Then they charge you for spokes and you have to pay someone to lace it up. I think what I should do is cut out the dealer, lower the price and sell direct. What do you think!

G
nicely put and good idea on selling direct.
Stav you know what your talking about! I love your forks, and man if I had the money I would snatch some up in a second! I saw your son (I think?) and you at the El Cajon track a while back, and man they are even cooler forks in person! Lower the price :D Seems fine to me

Expect an email from me soon, I have some things I want to discuss with you.
Like I said before on the bombshells and other set ups, i havent ridden them but this is what i hear from other people, and i hear they really need full on oil bath forks, ( I don't kow much so if i say something totaly off correct me) Marzocchi's will give you that option and so will stavron forks, fast50s, sik50s and a few others, they many not be as flashy as bombshells or with a disc brake, But they still can have great performance even some better than bombshells. I'm only talking more specific about bombshells because of the response i got from my previous topic was more directed on my comments on the bombshells, my commments were based on plenty of re-accurring topics on the sano boards with problems with there forks. ( Everyone who doesnt think the bombshells mount up to oil bath forks or doesnt think b\oil bath forks mount up to air dampened forks please let me know) And Stav, selling direct is the best way to go, lower the price a bit, get a online store going, have a introductory price sale, advertise a bit for it, and bam, I'll buy a set :D , Btw, I would love to ride your forks, I'll have to get a bring someone i know who has bombshells with me so i can compare the too. buy yeah, hit me up when you want to go riding for sure. I'm in Riverside btw.

I agree with Bruce Stavron bringing such a high end product to the market is not as easy as some of you think .

Bruce has a awsome set up . I've ridden both Stavrons and Bombshells and my personal oppinion is that the Stavrons are much better they feel like a real fork. Bruce has done alot to get his product out there for a good price . when all the cost are calculated and all the headaches are added up I think they are reasonable . when you consider the price of Bombshells plus the front rim you have to buy then if you can not lace it you have to pay someone to then you are in the 1200 bones range and that is what Stavrons cost .

And what are you thinking folks who says disc brake is better than drum those little mountain bike disc brake set ups fade when they get hot and leave you with a free rolling nightmare yes they look trick but drum brakes on a mini will out stop them anytime . the only disc brake set up out there that does beat them is overkill and are so touchy that they become worthless .

I'am not much into mountain bike forks and I prefer Marzochi's they are easier to set up for differant weights you can do it in your garage at home with KX 65 springs and heavier weight oil you can even add a emulator they have 6.6 inches of travel that trust me even on the big jumps you will never bottom. they don't cost a fortune and they are set up with front disc brake for a 10 or a 12 inch wheel . and they don't leak all the time because the chrome tubes are on top not like inverts that put them on the bottom to get pounded with rocks all day and put so many nicks in your tubes that they never seal .

Another thing I like Sik 50's set up for front and rear it makes the bike sit even and they work great . this my choice for the adverage rider.

70 forks

a cheap fix is to get some xr70 forks they aint no bombshells or anything but its way better than stock you do have to do some mods to them though for them to work on a 50
I looked into doint this same thing, but by the time I figured how much parts would cost it was close to the same as buying the SP-5 straight from BBR and more than if you get it from these guys. www.wronglink.net I ment www.precisionracing.net
yo jester I think you put the wrong link dude

that bitch on the bike is mine though
Yeah my sponsor Precision Cyles has bay far have some of the best delas around. The web adress is www.precisionracing.net
XR70 forks on XR50 how to (getting the forks is up to you)

The 50/70 steering heads are identical, so the forks will go onto the frame like they were made for it, but thats where the 'bolt on' part of the install ends. The tab on the left fork that slots into the drum brake plate was about 2mm too wide, so I had to grind it a little narrower (on both sides too, grinding down just 1 side would have put it out of alignment,) I also had to trim about 2mm off the hub spacer area of the brake plate so the tab would engage more than 1-2mm deep, and now use a 2mm thick spacer on the opposite side of the wheel (computrack wouldnt approve, but its a fiddy, the handling is gonna be squirrly, perfectly aligned wheels or not.) Once I got the wheel in place, I fabbed up a bracket for the front brake cable, which I attached to the fork by using the exsisting tab for holding the 70's cable and drilling another hole in the axle webbing. I also had to rotate the brake cam arm on its shaft a few teeth to get the proper angle for good braking power. I can take some detail shots of the setup if anybody wants.

btw you can install the BBR SP-5 damper rods for 5" of travel

www.precisionracing.net this is the one I ment, sorry. But they got a super deal. And no offense Dezmo but prob just buying the SP-5 would have been alot easier and worth the slightly more lol. Especially for the price they sell it.
