lol how many forums do u have to post on before u get the answer... its .05mm or .002
i don't think that is right all the shoppes i've called said that isn't right you are giving me stock vlearence. and TB doesn't have a phone #
do u have the race head with your kit? if not then i am correct because i got that info from two bros site
that should be the correct settings... unless you have a diff head. I set mine to .05 and I have the BBK as well.
alright i'll give it a try, it just seems like it is thinner than a piece of paper. i guess none of the shoppes around me know anything. thanks a lot for all the help. sorry to be a pain lol i'm just new to the for stroke business
It is very tight,Its hard to even use a feeler guage.
I set mine at .003" also once its broken in.I set them at .004" on brand new motors though in case the valves seat in a little.

What are you guys setting your clearances to w/TB race head?

The clearence is .003" on those also.
Are you guys setting 0.03 - 0.05 both valves???

I was quoted 0.05 inlet and 0.08 exhaust???

I have stock head but running 85cc piston and barrel kit with the larger cam and new rockers.
i emailed TB and he sent me an email saying his mechanic reconmmends .003

Sorry to be so dumb, but both valves??? inlet and outlet???

When i contacted my local Honda dealer he recommeds 2 thou and 4 thou which is 0.05 inlet and 0.1 outlet... i noticed at this setting i got a much louder tapping rattly sound at 0.1 exhaust side and when i put it to 0.8 it quitened it down a lot... i think i'll try 0.03 top/inlet and 0.05 bottom/outlet.

Anyone else have any ideas before i go bending bits i dont really want to be bending.
.003 for both. if you got to small for the gaps you will probabaly bend your valves or burn a hole in your piston. i set mine at .003 and it fired first kick. awesome kit!
hmmn thats what im worried about.... i think i'll run like i said 0.03 and 0.05 and see if the rattle vertually disapears if so i MAY go down to 0.03 both sides...

To be honest i'm not sure i'm getting the full power potential out of the bike anyways which the bigger gap i have would explain as the valves wont open as much... It seems logical that both inlet and outlet would be able to open the same amount as they are identical. I will post back with my findings.
Just got this reply from holeshot and they are backing my idea.... Seems this is the reason people are gettin g the ticking sound.....

Dan the setting given from your Honda dealer work for a stock barrel and cylinder and are good enough for a stock bike. The bigger big bore bikes youll find you want to adjust your valave clearence to .003" on both intake and exhaust valves. This will be the best possible clearence you can use. If when you adjust it they are a little on the tighter side of that measurement you are not going to damage anything. It may make the bike a litle harder to start if it is adjusted to say .002. If when you od it its a little on the loose side say to .004-.005" you still will not hurt anythign but youll notice that the bike is very loud. It will click as youll have valave clatter from the loose clearence. But you it wont hurt anything. If the motor is a bit noisey you can try to tighten up the valaves and see if the clearence can be harder to slide the .003 feeler gauge in and out.
