My timing chain stretched so I replaced it and its a little tighter but it doesnt seem to stay tight. When I take the bolt out of the bottom of the engine (where the spring pushes against the adjuster) and stick a screwdriver up in there and push the tensioner the timing chain tightens up but requires a pretty good hard push. When I put the spring and bolt back in the bottom theres no difference its still lose, like the spring isnt heavy enough to push the tensioner so that the timing chain is tight. I dont what it could be. Are there stronger springs you can put in there for more tension? What about that 10mm bolt in the side that holds the tensioner could there be something messed up with that even though its tight? Thanks.

The tensioner only puts the correct pressure on the chain when the bike is running because it works off of the oil pressure. That's why you need to remove the bolt just in front of the shifter to change cams, etc. This relieves the pressure. Good luck!
