for the oil pump do i really need to remove the cylinder and head?? it says to drill out the hole with a 2mm drill bit. but do i really need to take the cylinder off to do it? i dont really wanna mess with the top end.

what should i do??

is there a link someone can give me? where can i get detailed installation instructions?? please help, i need to do this quickly before the 30th. i have to be ready for the vegas fiddy nationals.

you need to drill out the hole, it will restrict the flow. you shouldnt have any problems while taking off and reinstalling the cylnder. wait is this on a stock engine? you dont need it if it is.

i think theres a pdf file around somewhere that takes through manual clutch install step by step, maybe twobros?

someone will remember

your going to need to take the cam gear off to remove the head, then remove the cylnder. its not That hard. more time expensive, i got it down pretty quick now. changing topend and reinstalling engine on frame to running in about 2 hours. btw who put it on for you?

thanks guys.......is there a link to a step by step for removing the head and cam gear and cylinder? i dont have to adjust anything like the valves once it goes back on? my buddy put the kit on for me. in the directions for the oil pump it doesnt say anything about taking off the cylinder. so i dont need to or is taht just for the stock motor??

i am very mechanically inclined......i just always want to make sure im doing something right when its the first time im doing it. the clutch will be cake for me but its the taking off of the cylinder that is making me stall on it. ince i get her apart i can EASILY put it back together. just need to know the specifics...like marking the cam gear and stuff like that. maybe a detailed step by step as to what needs to be removed to get the hole drilled for the oil pump.

thanks again guys....this prompt help is really helpin me figure this out before my race.

Yes you have to take the cylinder and everything off to drill out the hole. You will also need to take off the bottom left engine stud so you can get a straight shot at drilling out the hole. You can use a 5/64th drill bit which is basically identical to a 2mm drill bit, because how many people have metric drill bits. Dont worry man, just pay attention to how it comes apart, this is one of the simplest motors around, if your mechanicaly inclinded like you say you shouldnt have any problems.

yep thats exactly what he'll be doing. i can rebuid a top end on a two stroke in less than an hour from tear down to kicking it over. its not hard to rebuild engines.....yes 4-stroke are a little more involved but its the machanicall ability taht lets you do it with ease.

once i know exactly what to do....ill be able to rip it off and put back on in minutes...im sure of that. :D

thanks guys......alot of cool people on this forum. thats hard to find. :?

fiddycent came over...we rode my track then we yanked taht weak ass stock auto clutch out and slapped in the manual........IT WAS CAKE!!

only took us an hour to do. the kit is awesome except for one thing.....they give you every piece new. except for the damn secondary gear clip......i had to use the old one after we bent the hell out of it getting it off. we were able to bend it back and put on. they should have definitely included that too. maybe it just fell out of the bag. o well no biggie.

he also hooked me up with a 15 tooth front. so now im at 15/36. its pretty sweet but now im using first gear to take off. i kinda liked the fact i could start in second before. i can start in second now but its pretty doggy if on a small incline. still waiting for my clutch lever so i can adjust the clutch right...that might help the second gear take offs. we just used a brake lever to test it out.

hey lee, after you left we were messin around with stock pipe vs aftermarket. so we had to ride it.......brad was like...I GOT AN IDEA....WE ARE SOO STUPID!!......just take your front brake off and use it as the clutch......you still got the back brake!!! DOH!!! we could have done taht from the beggining. o well. i just borrowed a buddies lever so i could ride at the track on sunday.........so are you going to sell that mini chopper frame you have now. i bet that thing is bent to hell. hope you get enough time to put it all together. ill help with the clutch thurday night if you dont...just save that till we get there. it will be cake for us to do now.

talk to ya soon. later dawg.

Yeah once you get your clutch adjusted right you should be able to take off in 2nd pretty well, normally thats the gear I always take off in.

you gotta realize that race head is helpin you get out of the hole alot. i really need to get me a race head.......just dont wanna spend a bunch. how much was yours?

did you have any problems with the chrome plate on the side leaking oil out? i think mine is slowly leakin oil out of there......maybe the oil was on there from when we did the change but i think i wiped it down pretty good. maybe i should put some gasket sealer in there and get her sealed up real good?? what do you think?

The race head is $257 I beleive by itself. As for the oil coming out its not supposed to, I think you missed putting in the seal that goes in there. On the shaft that slides in to push on the clutch basket there is supposed to be a seal to keep oil from coming out, took me a while to figure out where it went as well.
