Where can I get just the spark plug cap without buying the whole cdi unit?

My Honda dealer had a ton of different ones. Aftermarket and OEM. I was advised that a good rubber boot is a wise choice. Often, the OEM plastic ones will crack - leading to poor running issues.

I ordered a stock XR 70 rubber one for my fiddy.

Ciao,

Rick
I have a plastic one on it now and it is cracked all to peices. I called my dealer and they said I had to buy the whole thing. Do you know anybody on the net who sells them?

Try calling up another motorcycle shop or maybe even an autozone and ask for just a spark plug boot. Anyone who carries NGK plugs can get you one.

how do u get the spark plug wire disconected from the cdi, i hav a new wire and boot that i wnat to install, do i have to cut the wire?
I'm told (by my dealer) that they screw on and off. You should be able to unscrew your existing plug cap off the wire. If you see that the end is buggered up, you can cut it clean and simply screw on the new cap. Apparently, there is a center contact in the plug cap itself and as you screw it into the plug wire it makes contact and pierces the center conductor of the plug wire.

I will be trying this myself too after my plug cap gets here later this week.

Let us know if it works for you.

Oops! Sorry MXcrazy

After looking at your post more closely, I see you asked about the other end where the wire goes into the Coil. I'm not sure, but I think its a one piece unit.

I ordered a new coil and it came with the wire already attached.

I'm sure someone will be able to correct me or confirm this :?:

acually i got that already but i was wondering how to get the wire out of the cdi. i got a blue spark plug cap and wire that i took from the auto shop at my skool, and i wnated to put on to just dress the engine up more. the cap doens;t work with the plug so i put the stock one on and im just using the blue wire. i had to cut the wire and i used these to special adapter things that came on the blue wire to connect the stock and the new wire. checked for a spark and everythign works good. :
