My friend has a BBR rev box, and he said it did more than his pipe on stock engine. I've read online it'll do nothing for a stock engine, but he said it makes a big difference, and he can pull on me like crazy in 2nd.
I would not advise the use of a rev box with a stock motor......or at least with the stock valve springs in the head.......most rev boxes remove the rev limiter......this will cause you to float valves and perhaps bounce a valve off the piston causing more damage than good.........as for performance gains to a stock motor....I would buy it and wait til I had everything else(pipe, big bore, etc) and really notice the difference.....
i did a little testing of my own for the takegawas rev limiter....
it has a 12800 limit i belive...something around there...
the final outcome was that it helps a little bit but it isnt a drastic (sp) change...i got probably 12 -20 yards before more before i hit the limiter in 3rd w/ the takegawa one...
oh yea i have the takegawa 88 kit with the 18 mm carb too
