Rebuild for 110 and 138 kits

I have two motors one is a stock KLX 110 with not enough compression to start so I need a tip on rebuilds. A link to a how to do a rebuild would be awesome. Also I would prefer to keep it a 110 but does anyone know any good deals on 143 kits out there online. I work at a motorsports store and could probably get the trail bikes kit for reasonable amount. Also where could I get the best deal on a stock 110 piston and ring rebuild kit?

One of the motors is a 2002 how can I solve the infamous bad bearing problem?

The other motor has a tawagawa 138 +R superhead kit on it. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website with some good deals on a piston and ring kit for that set up. I have found them for about $180 shipped for pistons rings gaskets and clips.

I am new to working on KLX 110s I have been around 4 wheelers dirtbikes and snowmobiles my whole life so I know how to turn a wrench just never worked on mini bikes before.

Your 02 as long as you leave it stock, you should be fine but as soon as you start modding it, you will need alot of stuff.

Takegawa stuff is usually sold through CHP or 2 Bros ( if they still import )

There are other's on this forum that may have some of that stuff in stock though like PAX.

As for OEM stuff, try BikeBandit.com or MotorsportsOutlet.com
I have found that for the best oem parts my local dealer will match or beat all online prices.
if you bike doesnt have enough compression to start it could be that your clutch plates are toast mine did that.
How can I tell if the motor is an 02 or not? I have two motors but I am not sure which motor went in what frame. My dealers around here are not that great of dealers so I doubt they will match online prices.

Also I plan to call two bros and see if they can hook me up with dealer cost since we sell two bros through parts unlimited tucker rocky and WPS at the place I work at.

What is CHP?

The bike has a manual clutch and the motor was going anyway so I'm almost positive it is gone either way it needs a rebuild so Im gonna do that thinking of going with a trailbike 143 tho but with all stock components.

Well from the outside...the '02 motors are ALL black. Cyl, cases, head..all black. We have an '02 and ran it with a 143 kit on it for quite a long time with no issues. I eventually had to replace the cases (from the previous owners screwup) so when I did that I had the whole motor converted to a 2005+ equiv. Lots of work to do that...Pax Racing did all the work for me. As far as your bore kits..a 143 should work and if the are no problems with the 2002 I would run it until you have to get it converted over.
Alright well my current 110 motor is based off the 2002 bottom end I guess but it does have the superhead from takegawa cams and 28mm carb I doubt it is really liking that much. I will just rebuild the motor as a 110 with stock everything and put it back in the 02 frame and keep it as a spare bike or probably sell it. Worst thing is gonna be switching over the manual clutch heard its not that hard but I don't have any directions (its the two brothers magura hydralic clutch).
Found the directions for the clutch installation.
