You guys are a BAD influence!! Thanx to the inspiration from PM in 2012 I put this together a Z50, the a ZB50, and then a ZB NSR morph (in progress), and still have 'em all. So . . . while the ZB NSR is at the paint shop (and I'm BORED), I picked up an NSR50R. It has a speedo, headlight, and taillight that I think we're added.

I think I want to get the NSR street legal too (why not?). I'm looking for a wiring harness, keys / ignition, left had control, taillight, directionals, battery (maybe?). WHERE can I source this stuff?? cmsnl.com doesn't seem to have a bunch of the part#s. Any ideas and help are appreciated. Thanx.

I took a look at BUYEE and did a search for NSR50. LOTS of bikes, wheels, fairings, shocks, etc. - but not a lot of oem parts?? Any tips for how to navigate around? I've also never used BUYEE before, can you give me some idea what it's like to deal with (payment, how do you figure what shipping is going to be, how long does shipping take, etc.)? I love, LOVE the red/black NSR you have. Is it a JDM model, or did you start out with a NSR50R (US model)? That's EXACTLY where I want to go!! Any help getting me there would be appreciated. Thanx in advance.

I have not used, "BUYEE" yet. But, might very soon, for some Repsol fairings. My red bike, is a 2004 US model NSR50R with a 72cc kit. I bought the bike, which the owner, converted to street legal, using all JDM parts. Harness, lights, speedo, rear fender, kick starter, ect.. I swapped, white fairings to JDM red, and put the JDM 6 spoke wheels on. My white bike, is a 2004 us model NSR50R, with a 80cc kit. I bought the already converted to street legal, with all JDM parts, also. No, kick starter on that one. So, I look like a little kid, on a push toy, trying to start that one. Third, bike is a bone stock, 2004 NSR50r, First owner, put about 15 minutes on then parked it. Went through my share of minis, started with YSR's. But, then moved on the NSR's because they are a much better bike. Although, there are a lot more parts and info, out there on YSR's. Had a few YZ80 engine swap YSR80's, they were fast, but, frame and suspension is not up to NSR's.

WHAT!!?? Everytime I think I'm whacked (having 6-7 minis in various stages of builds) . . ., someone like YOU comes along that helps me justify the WHOLE thing (in my mind anyways)!! :) Thanx! Interesting . . . I've been looking at the YSRs, appreciate your commentary. So WHERE did you come up with the JDM "stuff" to make your bike street legal? Any help hooking me up would be so much appreciated. Where did you get the fairing? I'm guessing that someone someplace is stamping out fairing sets with pretty much anything you want. Saw quite a few on BUYEE, but not much else scouring the internet.

Got my NSR running (finally) last nite (cleaned out and essentially rebuilt the carb), and took it for a quick ride. Pretty impressive. :) Still having an issue that it starts hard and won't idle (have to keep blipping it). I also don't have an air cleaner yet (wide open). Gonna measure it and get a k&n (any idea of the model that would fit?).

Rather than hijacking plantkillers thread, thought I'd stay here. So . . . the taillight and brakelight work on my NSR, not the headlight (yet). Boeing787 - do you have a battery in your NSRs? Anyone have the electrical diagram from the JDM nsr50model?

All my NSR's, came with the JDM parts. That the owners sourced out of JAPAN. There is a company called REDLINE, which tracks down parts. You just give them a part number. I was lucky, the
one bike came with the JDM red fairings. I also had a JDM NSR50, that I swapped the wheels off of. I do have batteries on my street NSR's. If you want to go crazy, check out GOOBIKE, it shows bikes for sale in Japan. Also, check out JAMIES NSR WEBPAGE. Fairings are hard to find. And are costly when you do. Also, the OEM fairings, tend to crack, at the mirror holes, under the seat, and at the lower mount bolt, on the RH side fairing. I have an extra set of whites, but, keeping them as back ups. I might try ordering some from BUYEE, looks like they would be about $600 after shipping. Always, watch Craigslist, I got my MINT 2004 NSR, with only 15 minutes of time. For only $1500. with a complete set of brand new OEM fairings, and gas tank. With the low number imported, and the large number that got trashed, parts will always be a problem.

From the same JDM parts diagram, I'm trying to figure out the rear fender (looks like it holds the battery?). There is also a splash guard that I'm not sure where it fits? BOEING787 - (or anyone) if you could send me some pics so i can get an idea of what I'm dealing with I'd be appreciative!! Doesn't seem like they're available. Thanx

The splash guard, and the airbox, are 2 things you wouldn't need. The guard snaps to the frame, under the tank. And the airbox is not needed. both these parts are JDM only. The 2004 NSR50R came with the K&N style air filter. Here, are some photos, of the rear fender, and battery area.

Awesome pics!! So it looks like there's a cover for the box built into the fender. Part# looks to be 80110-gt-4000. Can't even google the part#! Wtf!! At least the part# for the rear fender (80100-GT4-020)comes up - nobody has one.:( If anyone has either of these they'd consider parting with (or knows a source), I'm interested. :)

Thanx. From what I could tell the box looks like it's built into the fender, then the cover's separate? Any idea where I can get a wiring diagram? I bought a harness, but I'm not sure if it's for an NSR50v, NSR50x, NSR50f, or what (ad didn't specify). I know it's not for a NSR 50r ((US model). Pretty sure I can make it work regardless - diagram would just be a "nice to have." :)
