may seem stupid but will a z50 run without the key?? the only reason i ask is because i just got it and i have a crf70 that will run even if you disconnect the key. i would just unhook it and try to start it but i just got the bike and dont know if it runs to begin with.
Also would a crf50 carb and intake be the same??? I need a carb for my 1971 z50 project and thought about getting a crf50 carb
I've never unplugged the key switch on my '71, but I think it just provides a path to ground for the coil primary current supply (when you switch it off). If I'm right, unplugging the switch would let it run but you wouldn't have a way to kill the ignition.
I'll verify this later tonight when I get home and take a look at the wiring harness.
It will run if it's switched to the run position and there's no key. One of my ct's are like that. No key but stuck to the run position. If it doesn't work then just connect the two wires that go into the switch
