Congrats. :arms:

Thanks tmas. My youngest Brothers " Stock 73 " has won the last 2 Show & Shines's at the Rally. I can see why the Judges would pick a stock 73 over my highly modified late model ATC 70, It's just hard to beat Honda's 1st attempt at the ATC 70.

I Cut and Lightened a pair of 18x9.5-8 CST tires to try in the Sand. Floatation should be great. And these should get great grip, And still be able to slide the rear end sideways when I want to. I still got some more work to do on them, But I'm taking them to the Dunes with me so I can try them out.

So what was the verdict on the cut tires in the sand? Good flotation, hook up good? Any new videos to post? :)

They were awesome. Climbed Banshee hill as fast as having my paddles on, But the best part is how well I'm able to rat race around with them. They slide great around tight turns, does not want to high side the trike. Floatation is great, Big difference when starting out from dead stop. I'm very happy with them. Going to cut 16" set next.

That's great to hear they were worth the effort. So how are you cutting the tread away and how do you "buff" the tire carcass? I have had the best luck using an oscillating cutting tool to cut away tread blocks.

I cut some of the tread away with a Razor knife, And some with a Multi tool "Oscillating cutting tool". I also have a 4 1/2" grinding wheel that is made for rubber that I use. And big grit sanding disks for a 4 1/2" Grinder.

That Awesome Sound

A couple times a year I start all the toys up to push fuel thru the carbs so they don't get gummed up in between trips. And every time I start the Daytona 190 up I get a " Big Smile " on my face when I hear the Awesome sound of that motor.

Looks like it's about time to get the ATC 70's ready for the Raptor Rally Show & Shine.

Parts

I got most of the parts I ordered these last two days. A few small parts and wheels & tires still to come. Now I have something to play with. Now to start taking some weight off my new hubs, & other things. View attachment 122596
john,

I know this is an old thread but I’m just starting my first build and drawing a lot of motivation from your posts... looking at your pic of the plastics and tank and am wondering what tank that is. Is it plastic? Who makes it and where can I source it?

Looks like a stock ATC70 tank by the gas cap. Clarke makes plastic ones for the ATC70.

Yeah I agree but I asked because it was in a pic with the caption “more parts arrived today” or something like that... my tank is in pretty good shape but with the typical side dents from the forks... if I could get a nice repro I may go that route. My issue is the Clark tanks look like crap in the pics.... maybe they look better with a coat of paint on them?

Sorry, I don't get on here often enough. The Tank is a Wide fiberglass tank. I got this one from Gordon Spangler. It was on his shop ATC 70 Trike. I needed one and he was kind enough to sell me his Tank and Fenders of that Trike.
