My CRF50 with a Monkey Baja Front End - Hybrid

I started working on the hybrid last night. This is going to be "my beater", the bike I ride the canyons with and will be my girlfriend's learning bike.

I got the sweet Monkey Baja front end from Z last year, thanks Dan, and had them repainted a gloss black by Monterey Park Auto Body.

I also got the front sheild from Wurms, thanks Jude, also painted but kind of dig the look without them, so I don't think I'll use them.

I have a Baja Designs light kit that I will be gutting to make this setup work.

The rear has a +2 G-craft swing arm and Elka shock. My plans are to reuse my 8" jincheng wheels for now and throw in a Takegawa 88 motor. I have some Kitaco rearsets for it and will mount some low rise bars to finish it off.

Let me know what you guys think... good or bad.

EDIT: Click here page 3 for completed pics.

Looks like a modern mini Baja/Dakar beast!
Cool! Battery backup for the lighting? Stalled engine = dark crash:)
haha very true! battery is a good idea!

looks awesome tho! great job!
Dig the bajas. My Z50R baja will be done in the late spring. You can't go wrong with the Baja headlamps!

P.S. You are sick, seek help.

thats kewl...well now at least if that newb that wants to 'Tard his Z sees this he will know that a better fork and brake set-up will be a bolt on for the front of his Z
I'm diggin' it! Looking forward to the finished piece.
Thanks guys, I'm glad people are liking it. I wasn't sure how it was gonna look, but I think it definetly looks better than the stock Baja Designs kit.
Cool combination. Looks like a mini xr650 baja 1000 bike. Would like to see it on one of the rides? You gonna run stock wheels or go 10in? Ive got an 88z and a baja front end,so im watchin you and stealin ideas, lol. The speedo/light panel from an 80s ct70 is as close as I can find to the original baja speedo assembly which would be metric anyway.

Paris to Dakar (North Africa) is another one of those Baja 1000 type races.

What does that speedo look like? I'm going to use the Vapor since I have it handy. The tricky part of this will be getting the electronics off the Baja Designs back panel and mounting it behind the lights without it looking too ugly. It will be challenging since I don't plan on using the windscreen.
