Does anyone know what flywheel or stator rotor will fit on my 1979 Z50? I bought it cheap and pulled the cover and it is completely missing. I was told by my Honda shop that 76-79 are the same? Does anyone know and also where the heck can I find one? Thanks.

The correct flywheel and stator assembly for your '79 depends upon the crank taper where the flywheel mounts. It seems that some '79's were built with the '75-'78 crankshaft, and others were built with the '79 through '85 crankshaft.

Can you post up a few clear pics of the left side of your engine?

Because you have a stator with a lighting coil like the '75-'78 models use, you will need the Hitachi flywheel like the one shown below.

Ok cool! I imagine those are hard to find? And do you know what years were the same?

The '76 through '78 years along with some '79's used the flywheel I posted in the pic above.

I think any 68-79 Z50...69-about 75 CT70...or 73-maybe 79 ATC70 flywheel should work.
If it has the same shape as the one dirtbikr188 posted, it will work...squarish with a flat face. You'll need the nut and washer AND a Woodruff key too.
eBay will be a sure bet to find one. They are very common parts.

Not sure you you all know but the guy on Ebay thinks this may work? It doesn't say Hitachi on it but looks very similar? Anyone know?

It isn't a Hitachi, the ND stands for Nippon Denso. kirrbby would be the guy who would know what specific models used that flywheel

I looked around on ebay...I didn't see hardly ANY of the early 50/70 flywheels.
I might have one here for you. I'll see what I can find tomorrow or Sunday, and I'll let you know.
