So the other day I noticed that there are several "Lets see" threads posted up on Planetminis. None of which fall into the catagory of engine Failures. Thread concept is pretty simple, Post up photos of your beat, blown up, dropped valves, blown tranny, exploded engine, etc, etc, etc, photos.

Couple of guide lines to follow:

1. No posting up carnage photos and then blaming it on a company.

2. No Posting up photos that have nothing to do with engine failures.

3 No bashing any specific brand and or Company.

4. Explain when/how you believe it failed.

Keep it simple guys. This is the way I see it, engines are mechanical and usually at some point when ran hard enough or long enough failure is inevitable. I am in no way claiming though that there are not engines out there that just keep going.

Now lets see that engine destruction!!!

Heres a preview of some of my own engine destruction: F5 takegawa twin spark head. Dropped a intake valve since the retainer cup was to brittle, tested it on a rockwell in class. Man was I super bummed when it happend, I just spent close to 400 dollars making everything new again on it.

Bought a bike with a blown motor in it. Didn't realize it was this bad until I took it apart. Previous owner ran it pretty hard, snapped the rod and as a result broke the cylinder casting in two, bent the valves, and busted a good size hole in the cases.

My brothers TB117 that floated the valves:

lol Wow, I surprized when you bought it you didnt notice the entire top half of the case was blown out.

I think once we get enough people to post up some destruction photos we should do a Poll on Most gnarly engine failure haha.

This is an entrant from Our Down Under monkeybike riders.

Lifan 150 spat it, It lasted a bit over 2000kms (1242MILES) before the conrod broke at the little end. In it's defence, I was using it along the freeway, each day holding it on 100km/h (60MPH) for about 20 minutes at a time.

This engine was in

Heres a 5 speed takegawa gearbox which carted it, counted 45 + gearteeth in the sump.

My yx125 clutch exploded some years ago when i was young and stupid. It did make noise but i couldnt tell what it was so i just kept riding. It didnt make a lot of damage had to replace the clutch basket and kickstart shaft. Engine had high comp piston, IRK, lightened flywheel and that clutch was obviously to weak for this setup.

Man Tcr0148, thats an old thread 2006. What exactly happend? Kinda looks like some junk got sucked through it and took a ride on top the piston.

While my son and i were out having a bit of fun, the air filter fell off and i didnt notice until it was too late. Anyhow, the dirt that was sucked in the intake crystalized in the camber causing a lean mixture and boom! Lets just say lesson hard learn.......double check everything before you ride. And this is how i got onto the mini scene, i was looking for an engine and discovered PM......The rest is history.
