very good idea...
I went to the M/C shop in town that I used to always frequented many years back yesterday and was astonished. I saw a guy in a wheelchair that looked very familiar. He was in a meeting with other employees so I went on looking at bikes. He came rolling my way and I stopped him and asked his name. Sure enough, he was a guy that I rode with many times when we were in our very early teens. I asked what happened. Not the neck broke kind of issue, but he explained that he was at a track in 2000 and had been there many, many times. He went on to say that doing a triple right before a hard left and you had to come off the throttle to drop the front to land and the throttle stuck WFO. Bike and him went straight up then down between the two jumps. Crushed his back in 2 or 3 places paralizing him and shattered his leg too. He is close to 50 now. It's really an awakening to actually see someone that something like this has happened to that you know. I walked away from there thinking that the reacreational riding that I do, (putting around in the woods and hitting a semi-local track here and there) could easily turn into something like what happened to him. I'm still bummed. Getting old hurts enough, but there's the alternative too. It can always happen. Let's be careful out there.
