It was a great time. It was a great event put on by a local pitster dealer (928 minis) they had a turnout comparable to some of the big national events.
pitsters where out in force from a local kid on the MXR110 placing well in the 65class to the riders on LXR's showing them how its done..
OK IM typing this out on a cell so please cut me a little slack
First off was Matt (NCC) In the +30 class on a bone stock LXR fresh out the crate and local kawi, honda, ktm and yamaha dealer Tony Beck coming to the pitster booth and sitting on the new Lxr 160r and loving it so much he sold his modded klx110 on the spot and picked up a new lxr gassed it and it up and raced it. With these to (matt and Tony) being arch rivals from 27 years past where relighting the flame and where about to do battle.
moto1 +30
when the gate dropped NCC (matt) grabbed the hole shot and put in a few fast laps until a rider that must of turned 30 the day of the race put the pass on matt. With Tony just getting used to his lxr he was still running a fast 4th and was about to put a pass on the 3rd place when 3rd slid out right in front of Tony he hit the rider head on but he was able to remount and salvage a 3rd. As for matt he had a comfortable lead on 3rd , two turns from the finish on the last lap matt had some bad luck with a rock getting wedged in the chain guide derailing the chain.
moto 2 30+
was a 4 way battle up untill the last lap with Ncc pulling another good holeshot he held off the other ridersfor about 3 laps. toney and other fast old farts lol where hot on matts tail untill a pass was made on matt by the young 30+ guy . on the last lap the group (matt, tony, 928cris) came into a lap rider who crashed in a whoop section and his bike cartwheeled in front of matt. Causing matt to stall and the others to get by. Matt had to settle for a 4th but tony came in for the 2nd. Giving him 2nd over all for the night in the class. Not to bad for a guy that never seen a pitster lxr before buying one and racing same day in a field full of fast guys. With those good placing coming in we don't want to forget a local AZ guy from outside phoenix Leroy peugh age 51 in his first race aboard his pitster pro x4r placing 6th overall in what he had to say the ''young gun class' (30+)'' beating out riders 15+ years younger then himself.
The 10in open class
moto 1
Matt never ridden a 10in bike before he jumped at the chance to race the NEW Lxr 10in on the gate matt had to say that he had his work cut out for him seeing that he was 20years older they anyone in the class. Also with hired 928 young gun pro (Mr. sweet) racing a fast X2 pitster also . But as done before matt pulled the holeshot and kept Mr. sweet at bay for 2laps on lap 3 Mr. sweet got by and started to put a bit of a lead on matt. on lap 3 matt hit a little mud causing a little slide out crash . Mr. sweet took the win and matt was able to remount for a 4th.
moto2
Matt on a holeshot streak on the night was looking for another one but nerves or over confidence came over him . With him pulling a big goon style wheelie off the line giving a clear track for Mr. sweet to put in some hot laps. Before the end of the first lap matt made his way into second and put his head down to try and reel in Mr. sweet it didn't look good for matt but 3turns from the checkered flag matt was able to show Mr. sweet a front wheel but mot able to make the pass. With that finish of 2nd and a few passed in the back by other riders gave matt a 2nd over all on the night in the class and Mr. sweet took home the cash and the #1 spot.
Now for the kid on the Mxr110 I didn't get to watch both MOTOS but from what I was told he pulled off a good finish, a 9th overall out of 18riders not to bad now for my class the 12in open .
I will give you what I did but I will let NCC matt tell u what he say from the side lines
later
moto 1
with a packed gate of pitsters build klx110s I had a lot of nerves coming to the gate. With 928 hired pro riders on pitster in the field also (Mr. sweet and Mr. kuse) this was going to be a good race. But I was on a LXR so I knew I was on the right bike to get the job done off the gate I had a crap start coming out in around 5th but by the end of the 1st lap I was able to make a few killer passes and it put me into 2nd right behind Mr. kuse I was able to reel him in after a few laps but a bobble by me let him slip away giving him 1st and me 2nd
moto 2
I was able to see what the other riders had and the nerves where gone and I was ready to DO WORK lol, off the line I grabbed a big holeshot and didn't look back. I had a small bobble in the whoops where I hit a my knee on the bars it slowed me a little but I was able to keep a good cushion on the other riders and take the win and the overall on the night. Not to forget the Green Monster my little brother Anthony got to race a new LXR and he had a blast with a 7th overall on the night
Also I would like to thank pitster for sending us down there to help riders with bikes help support the sport and 928 minis for putting on a great race and would like to encouraged more ppl to show up to these great events 928minis is putting on.
