New to the forum, joined for this question…

bought a cheap 02’ roller for a winter project. Needs pretty much an entire bottom-end rebuild. I started collecting parts. So far I’ve got: two new cases, hd output shaft, 4-speed drum, shift shaft (original was bent) all new bearings, gaskets, and a stroker crank… my issue is I want to be able to salvage some things off the original motor. Do I need a different clutch or ignition set-up to run the stroker ? What changes were made after 02? My plan is to do a stroker with a stock top end (121cc?) if anyone has advice on that set-up it would be greatly appreciated too.

For the crank kit on tbolt it says “not for 2002” is that them just covering for the weakness of the 02 internals or is there something mechanically different. My assumption was that the clutch is different going into 03

The difference is the assembly that mounts on the crankshaft, for the most part. Below are the clutch assemblies from the 2002 and 2003, you can see the difference at the top half of both diagrams.
