I just picked up a 1974 z50a for my brother. While playing with it I found out that the muffler is really blocked up, and the carb is way out of whack. It has a Kleihn?? carb, and im not to sure how different that is from the one on my CRF50, but any tuning suggestions would be appreciated as well as a place to buy a cheap replacement muffler. Oh and he wants the headlight to wok but im sure the bulb is bad, so where can I pick up a new one? Im no tard when it comes to this stuff, but I really only know the new bikes. Any other suggestions on things to do to get it back in good running shape would be appreciated too. Thanks!

It's a Keihin carb, just purchase a rebuild kit from one of the parts vendors

If the headlamp doesn't work, it could be the old crusty wiring, or the bulb, or the stator assembly

Thanks a lot guys! Im sure that those links will help me out, and ill see If I can take some pictures of it. I thought that my 04' was cool but chrome fenders, a cushy seat, and lights kick ass!

One more question for you guys, I bought the bike assuming it was a 1974, but I had a guy tell me that because the bike is orange that it cant be a 74'. If this is true, what year could it be? I know its early because it has the fold up bars, lights, and an early tank.

post the VIN and I'll tell you what year it is. It's on the steerer tube or head tube of the frame.

Your bike is a 1974. They were made in Candy Sapphire Blue and Candy Topaz Orange... Thus the reason why your tank is orange.
