Started off with a Jialing 120. Tbolt hooked me up with a hi-comp 131 kit. i got the motor put together and started. but there was a tapping clacking noise coming from it though. i broke it down and checked the valve piston clearance and everything is ok. i adjusted the valves to spec. i checked cam timing and its AOK. it seems like the sound is coming from within the cases. i did notice that the cam chain was a little looser than normal. could it be the cam chain tensioner?



the motor starts and idles fine. i can even rev it without issue. so i'm almost certain its not a valvetrain or piston issue.

Pull the stator cover off and look and see if the chain tensioner and chain wheels are still where they are supposed to be. It's a good place to start.

also make sure the chain roller in the cylinder is where it's supposed to be.
