i dont quite understand how it affects riding performance.. can someone explain? it doesnt seem to work the same way as big bikes

makes the spring tighter before the actual compression of the spring due to a hit or bump. it makes the shock stiffer to compensate for different weighted and styled riders. on the works shock i have it also lifts the bike to a certain extent, but its limited by the length of the rod in the shock.
k so if i want it softer for smaller bumps which way do i turn it
looser, next to as loose as you could make it with it still being slightly compressed.

then ajust your dampening so you could regain some rebound.
i dont have a compression adjustment on my ishock, its only the standard version.. are you saying crank the rebound up some?

has anyone found a way to adjust the rebound while its still on the bike with the plastic on? i can reach it with my fingers but its not easy to turn, im thinking of cutting my shroud some to get in there
try it out with the plastics just sitting on the top(not bolted) and get it right.
kk generally how many turns does it take to feel a difference

just go one turn at a time untill it feels right.
Suspension tuning is basically trial and error. Keep playing with it until you get it to a point that it feels right to you. Everyone is different.
Thank you for all the help everyone has been providing. One thing I want to mention is make sure when loosening the pre-load adjuster the shock ends do NOT spin

Our new web site will be up really soon and it will include full color pictures for shock install, improper install as well as spring install. Then eventually even how to adjust your iShock.

Why not, do they have pins in them or whatever.

I rotated mine 180 degrees, and it works fine.

We're talking about the shock mount part, right?

Yes if you turn the pre-load adjuster while it is on the bike you don't have to work as the shock ends are bolted to the bike.

While it is not common but it is potentially possible to spin the head off. Just to be safe when doing this make sure both shock heads are stationary.
Ok.

I twisted my LE ishock so that both knobs are facing upward, makes it much more convenient.
hey mx i-shock. what should we set our sag at with the LE i-shock? say if you measured from rear axle to the base of the seat? or should it have no sag at all? just wondering, i want to get these things super dialed in.
mxishock - explain to me what tightening and losening the preload does while on the track!!!!!!!!
