I think that someone should make longer peg mount bolts with washers in between the mount and the engine cases so the pegs could be lowered. Is anybody here a good machinist?

i cant realy picture what ur talkin about maybe could u draw it out for us????and post it up here cuz i know someone who is a machineist
I dont have photoshop or a scanner. TIME TO DOWNLOAD!!!!!
yes, that would be a good idea except that I found a couple of dis-advantages:

1. The pegs on 50s are already low, so if you lowered them more your feet would be dragging all the time.

2. If you lowered the whole mount down then you wouldn't have as much ground clearence.

But a better idea might be to make a whole different footpeg mount. instead of having as much rise as normal ones do, just make one that has less rise. But if you were going for a low cost fix then that wouldn't be the ideal choice.

I lowered my pegs a quarter of a inch. Went to Home Depot and bought a stick of thick walled hollow steel tubing and cut to a quarter of a inch and used longer mounting bolts. You do have to adjust the rear brake to compensate for the drop. I am working with a machinist on making me a foot peg mount that is lower but also set back farther to compensate for the longer rear swingarm on my bike. This should make for a more cozy ride.
be careful on how lo u go. u getting a stand mount on it? thats whats needed round these parts.

You can take a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate, trace out the mount and cut it to fit between the motor and pegmount to lower it.

Let us know how that works out, I've been thinking the same thing.

Anyone tried torching a cromo mount and bending them aftwards?

(that's a nautical term kiddys)

It looks like all you would have to do is grind the bottom of the brake lever to compensate (as you said).

I think that you would have a problem here. The way that I see it, is the big flat plate on the peg mounts, where it attaches to the bottom of the engine, helps to distribute pressure. If you put some sort of bushings there (washers, spacers, whatever...) I think that you might have a chance of allowing more flex and pulling the bolts right out of the bottom of the case.

I may not be correct.. but it seems to me that there is potential injury.

Dont forget... these bikes are made for 6 year old kids... if you make it feel like a big bike... why not just get a big bike?
You guys are a bunch of hacks... home depot tubing.

I got Billet Aluminum inch lowing blocks on my bike. I can't ride without them.
What the hell are lowing blocks? do you mean lowering blocks? Where would you put them on the chassis?
sounds crazy there cam 8O

ill give it a try

Hey Cam I just dont have the resources to my own machine shop any more so I have to do it the old fashion way. I have to build hillbilly mounts  to test and then pay to have someone build it. :(
We lowered the foot peg mounts on our race bike just about 3/4" It gives the rider more room and feels a lot better on the legs. I don't suggest it with a stock swingarm but if your running a longer swingarm shock & forks then ground cleareance is no problem. You will have to modify your brake pedal though. That is the most difficult part. I'll post pictures of our set up later to show you what we did. I may even start offering the modified brake pedals. I have to look at the cost.
