Hello! I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right section but oh well, move it if it's the wrong place. Okay, now to my problem. I changed valves today and put everything back together. (Watched a video on youtube). Now when i try to start it, it makes a squeaking sound when i'm kickstarting. (It doesn't start btw.) It doesn't sound right at all and it haven't been like that before, it comes from the cylinder head i can hear. Could it be Valve clearance? Also, check this video, i don't have that part that he grabs at 10:41

I can't remember if i had one when i disassembled the head. Also, what's that part for and do i need it? Thanks

im no expert and please wait for others to respond. i am curious, did you put the rocker arms on the same sides they were on originally to match cam lobe wear and break in they had before?

then again, maybe with new valves that doesnt matter.

that part i think is some lifan head part. ive not seen it on oem 50 heads.

The rocker arms are both exactly the same, and it can only fit one way so i had to put it right, i think?

Did you only put new valves in? Did you lap them? Cut seats? Fill combustion chamber and check for leaks?

I installed, i did lap but i didn't cut seats as it wasn't necessary. Yea, i'll have to strip the head apart and check for leaks, can the noise come from leaking valves?

Well Im interpretting your description of "squeaks" as air whistling past a valve or leaky head gasket.

they are same on oem, might be same on lifan too.. but "Wear" is what i was concerned about. rockers wear in. once worn and if youre keeping them you wold want to keep them on the same cam lobe.

It sounds like the cam chain sprocket bolts are rubbing on the cam chain sprocket cover. I would remove it and check for any signs of wear.

Certain.y sounds like compression whistling to me. New head gasket installed? Why did you replace the valves? Did you lap by hand or with drill and hose?

No, same gasket but it looks fine. I replaced them because my timing chain jumped and they hitted the piston. I lost compression and i thougt it have to be the valves. I needed to replace the cam chain because it had got worn making it too long and tensioner didn't tension. Lapped by hand.

uhhh..ive NEVER seen a head gasket that should be re-used as they are a "crush" ring on the cyls..and are a 1 time use only..can you get away with re-using..sure but not always and never recomended

I bought a cylinder gasket set on ebay and replaced every gasket on the head and cylinder! No more sounds and compression has never been better and it runs great! Thanks all for helping

Learned your lesson dont reuse gaskets on crucial items

you can pretty well re-use ALL gaskets that are NOT "crush" type..ie head, exhaust..tho exhaust can just get re tightened a few times and be ok...but otherwise "crush" type(anything with a metal insert) is a once n done
