Does anyone have any experience or knowedge of the Honda Z50 reproductions being manufactured by Lifan motorcycle industries? I guess they go by the trade name of Hongda (original name was Honda research of China). I'd rather buy the real thing for my son but lack of cash is an issue.

G'Day,

wrong, they are manufactured under the name HONGDU, BRANSON, RUPP or CHAMP in Mainland China but some "importer" might rebatch/rename them as Hongda.

my personal opinion, stay away from those bikes. try to get a Jincheng, much better quality and they manufacture a offroad monkey (Z50) or onroad Z50 and the Gorilla (both with all the lights for street use).

Jincheng Monkey Replicas come in many different set-ups regarding engines 50-110cc with manual clutch (4 gears) or automatic (3 or 4 speed) and different forks/brake configurations. they ask for too much $$$$, DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM but for reference visit: http://www.monkeybike.co.uk/acatalog/Jincheng.html and click onto the pics to have a better view of the bikes.

As posted above, the lifan produced bikes are crap.

If you want to replace a good chunk of the parts and spend time fixing things, get the HONGDU, BRANSON, RUPP or CHAMP. If you want to spend time riding, find a dealer who sells the Panda Fun Rider, which is the US version of the Jincheng bikes.

The come with a legal MSO, and can be registered, while all the other chinese bikes are for offroad use only unless the US dealer is playing funny business with the paperwork.
