Ok.. i bought a 22mm Mikuni Carb kit with matching intake from tbolt-usa.com and it just doesn't look right to me..

Is this thing even going t work???

The Intake they gave me says its for 20-24mm carb but the hole just looks way to small, it actually looks like the intake is about the same as the stock one on my SSR. The intake is a trailbikes part.

here are pics... you let me know If I am crazy or not.

That intake wasn't designed for the carb. TB doesn't supply that carb and your supplier is mixing and matching parts. It will probably work, but I wouldn't run that combo unless I ported the intake to match.

Yah these Dam venders always meesing sh!t up. Use a Sharpy marker and blacken the intake flange bolt it to the carb to the intake take out the slide and use something thin and sharp to mark where you need to port.

tbolt is such a douchebag... I wouldnt have bought the kit If I knew it was gonna be like this.. i would have just bought the carb by itself and then ported my intake.

I bought the kit so I wouldn't have to do that.

Here is a link to the exact product I bought off his store. I even talked to him on the phone.

It says "High Flow Matched Intake"

have you contacted Tbolt about this? might be a minor error and maybe they'd ship you one in a hurry for free to make it right ( at elast any good vendor would) but before bashing them you should at least contact them, jsut my thoughts on the whole thing

Mike, the slide might be in backwards...If you need that intake taken care of send it to me and I'll send it back with your rim.....If not then match a piece of poster board or a gasket(you don't need one here) to the carb and then use it as a template...you can bolt it on the intake and then scribe the hole or sharpie it...Then clean it up to match the hole with a gradual tapper.....

hey TRT... maybe a I will send the carb and intake to you..

also... i dont think the slide is in backwards... it can only go in one way because of the little slot.... and the throttle snaps back and forth normal.

One more thing.... the carb is a pretty tight fit between my engine and gas tank..

I endedup putting about 5 washers under the back of the tank to raze it up a bit.. which helped... but the gas overflow on the bottom kinda rubs against one of the fins on the jug..

Cut off the gas overflow nipple and your problem is solved.

Check to make sure your throttle cable is long enough and you have some slack. If you have a cable that's too short, it won't idle down.

maybe that is the problem.. my cable is kinda snug

I'll have to take the throttle cable out of the throttle assembly and then start it up and see if the slack was the problem

if this is my problem.. whats a good recommended throttle cable to use with this carb?

I am using the tbolt billet throttle assembly on my bike if that helps.

You can trim off some of the cable jacket to obtain more throw to allow the slide to drop all the way down to the idle screw..it takes a steady hand and a dremel cutoff wheel.....

+1 But I didnt trust myself with a cutoff wheel so I used a Hacksaw and got the job done a little bit safer
