I’m new to manual transmission bikes so please forgive my ignorance if this is common knowledge.

When I’m riding my XL70, if I ever let off the throttle and try to coast I hear a grinding noise. If I engage the clutch the noise goes away.

I didn’t think I would have to always engage the clutch while coasting, but again I’m new to this. Any thoughts?

Check your chain tension and look to see if the chain has been rubbing your stator cover and swingarm

Good call, I tightened up the chain a little bit and the problem stopped. Thanks!
