Gnarly Tick! HELP!

My 05 drz has a gnarly tick and i cant seem to get it to go away. the valve lash is perfect at .03 or .003 whatever it is... and its not the cam chain. i got out this fancy stethoscope that my dad has and it sounds like its more exhaust valve area.

Anything?

also i have a spare head the is missing the exhaust valve (because it was damaged). do u think that i could try switching the exhaust valve from the head that is on the bike now to that head or will there be a problem with sealing.

Hope theres someone out there who can help

Check your valve clearance again.

Did the tick randomly start or has it been doing it for a while?

Might be time to tear her down.
i bought the bike with the tic thinking it was just the valve lash. i had the top end fully tore down and found that the piston was in wrong, fixed that and when i started her back up the tic was still there.

if i can figure out how to post a video of it i will try
Sometimes tick is just normal, your description of GNARLY might be different from ours, but yeah, a video would be awesome.

Oh, and I run 0.02 and 0.03 on my intake and exhaust on the 110's with aftermarket cams.
You didn't recently add a air filter to it did you? I put a 2 bros pancake style filter on my bike an you could hear everything going on lol
^^ That too. It's like that on all engines. You can hear it " working " to put it in simple terms, lol.

Is the motor stock? Big bore? If so what kind? My buddy has a KLX110 that I put a 165cc skut piston.... That really amplified the inturnale noises. I took it apart looking for what I screwed up... All was good. It still runs good with no issues... Except a tic lol.

Yea i put a 165 kit with stroker in mine and mine also has a tick but runs fine starts first kick everytime and runs strong
Did it bend the valve when the piston was in wrong? If the valve was hitting the piston then I bet it's bent.
Its a 138 takegawa s cut. When I took the head off I inspected the valve as far as I could without disassembly. I put solvent in the port and it had a good seal so I didnt think anything was wrong

There's a video of my tick... gonna try out a different head in a bit... if it don't go away I'm gonna take it to the city and ghost ride it off of a high building... dong worry I'll video tape it
I've heard worse. Ride it like you stole it, once it breaks you'll know what the issue was.
Sounds bad. Real bad. It'd make good scrap though.
Reviving an old thread but my piranha 125 sounds exactly like that klx right now...ever figure it out?
