its true! ive talked to a buddy of mine thats got partial sponsorship by honda. its coming out later this year. Just as the '04 crf250 is being followed up by the new street legal crf250x. i dont know much spec's on the new fiveo, but i know it is NOT a kids bike. i think honda's pretty smart by doing this, making another line of their best selling bike!

how reliable are your resources? my dad's shop has not heard of anything like that except the two new fiftys that are not street legal (Dream 50R and NSR50R). By the way the crf250x is also not street legal. It just comes with electric starter, gearing, and light and those are about the only differences between the crf250x and regular crf250r. They didn't even hint at anything like that at the dealer show. O well, if we here anything about it at Honda of Salina I will for sure let you know.

first you did say it was going to be street legal if you are talking about the crf250x. i wasn't trying to affend you, i was just staiting the fact that other than the Dream 50R and NSR50R there have been no signs that Honda will come out with a crf50x. anything is "legal"(izeable) as long as you have the moneyand i am already chillin because it is 9 degrees right now. again i was not trying to put your comment down, i was saying that my dad's Honda shop (meaning dealer of Honda's directly from Honda)has not heard anything about that, and that if we do hear something i will put it up right away. i have been known to be wrong many times so don't get so offended.

maybe he was talking about the NSR50R or Dream 50R. for a video go to http://www.tappedinto.com/clients/honda/media/nsr_dream50r_hi.asx

Yes Honda Is proto typing a Pro CRF50 for adults I heard this from a insider on Honda's design team .

It is exspected to be released in 05 .

my friend saw the bike he said for legal reasons he can not say much but it is a race model of the CRF50 and it is going to kill most of all the aftermarket guys . especialy a couple of the top guys not mentioning names but they know who they areand they should be scared

Hmm glad I'am building a bike too and not trying battle the sharks in the aftermarket pool .

if it is at the 05 dealer meeting i will post it right away. anything is possible. i can't even comprehend what they are testing. they have so many things in the test stage that we couldn't imagine. they were testing the crf450 before the yamaha even came out. just no one new about it. i hope they come out with an adult fifty. it would probably make them a lot of money and bring more people into the sport. honda is very good about keeping things cheap so i wouldn't look for a big price tag on it if (hopefully when) it comes out.

Story is they won't show anyone because of the company's wanting to copy it or build after market parts for it (like Honda would need that) .

I don't think we will see it untill 06 or 07 from what I gleened it is what us big guys want in performance but it is being produced for the future mini youth 4 stroke market . remember folks Honda does not follow fads ( not that I consider my mini addiction a fad) they have a strong marketing stradagy and the youth market for mini's is huge worldwide and remember too the USA is only 7 % of Honda's world market yah 7% thats tiny but we are the most demanding when it comes to performance next to Europe and Australia so to make a long story short Honda in my mind is on top and will allways be on top.

PS. IT IS COMING !!!!!!

8) Honda all the way 8) When the trx450 was put on hold we were told it was because dimensions were given out and Honda wanted to "punish" whoever leaked it by holding them for a while. Thats why aftermarket companies had parts for them before they were even released. Honda will give companies one early so they can build parts, but they didn't want anyone to have a head start with this one. :? I do understand why they would be mad though.

think of the sales opportunity and profit they are giving away by not offering something like this. 3 or 4 copycat chinese bikes and endless mod parts exist already. the r&d time and money would be minimal, they`ve been making this motor since 1968. throw in the xr70 forks which many are using already and beef up rear and its ready to go.

the only thing is, they are looking for long term profit. they want to make sure there is a big enough demand before they "throw" there money into producing it. everyone on this site would love to have one, but the reality is that as a whole (world) it (the 50 "fad") is still only a fad. they have to make sure that they can sell them to your everyday joe. as the sport of 50s gets bigger there will be more interested in it. if (because) they do have one in proto stage then they must think we are only at our begining, and i would have to agree. this "fad" has grown faster than anything i have encountered (except maybe paintball...it grew very very fast). once we get more exposure like we did on Two Wheel Tuesday i think we will hit a boom like we could never imagine. everyone that is a member of this site already will be telling our kids about when we only had 730 members and bombshells only cost 1000. we may have a front row seat to the "major" begining. i know pitbike racing has been around a long time, but i think you understand what i mean.

where on the honda site is the dream fiffty and the other one? some one posted up a link but i couldn't find them.

that is because honda make so much more other things besides motorcycles. they make they're most money form selling they're basic engines to third world countries then any thing else.

very good point cycle, but again 90% of the parts they already have the tooling for. So the longer they hold off on producing it the more of the market they are giving away. Use the xr80 and xr100 as an example these bikes are so close to the same it logically makes no sense to produce both.
