so how do you do it? I know it's pretty simple, but I just can't get the bastard off! I got the springs and stuff off but I can't seem to hold onto the clutch good enough to take the nut off. Please don't tell me that I need a special tool.

shove something between clutch ring gear and primary drive gear. wood plastic screwdriver i would try to avoid metal

can't, the shaft was busted off at the case so I couldn't shift it out of neutral. I used a screwdriver and did it the ghetto way.

next time use a penny...it's softer and easier on the gears.
