Is it possible that a weak ignition coil is killing the CDI?

From primary to ground I have 8K ohm.

From secondary to ground I have 8K ohm. There is only .4 VDC present at Black / Yellow to coil. I swapped the CDI and got one decent spark at the plug, nothing after.

I have also swapped another complete irk, no difference.

I tried triggering the coil manually, seemed to draw more current than I would expect (heated/melted lead quickly, though did get good spark).

Thoughts?

Well, I found it. In the least likely of places on a Chinese manufactured piece of equipment. A safety circuit. Somebody wired in a tether kill switch and buried the harness behind the battery box. Clever.
